DAMN, I can't believe there are that many men driving the 5AT version, shocking, but I'd be interested in seeing the age group of guys driving auto/manual. I can understand for some people to switch to AT for family reason, but traffic is not a really good excuse. I live in Boston, w/ the Big Dig traffic ain't pretty either, but I just HAD to get a 6MT. Had a 6Sp 3000GT VR-4 before, that was a kick ass car before I had to trade it in for a Auto Infiniti I30 and bum around for 5 years. I promised myself to get back to 6sp land on my next car, and I'm back in the manual camp and happy as ever. The fun factor of shifting yourself can never be achieved w/ the semi-auto shifts.
Guys, if you can't drive stick, learn today, it's not too late, and you'll have fun w/ it too.

Its never too late. I've always wanted to learn driving a stickshift, and finally got to it when I turned 32. After I rented and drove a manual car for 2 weeks, I liked it so much I bought me a 6MT
.
For those who havent driven a stick - try learning/driving one - even if you decide to stick to an automatic afterwards, its a nice experience !

i have a 6 speed..it's extremely fun on the freeway...but it can get tiresome when on the regular streets...or in traffic.....this is my first stick car...i admit it, I get annoyed every once in a while driving stick...especially when I'm tired...or when I'm on a hill and stall...but driving it on the freeway with no traffics feels awesome.....and the feeling of other people drooling over my car since it's a TL and manual is pretty cool too...so all in all...it's like..75% to 25%, 25% regretting I got stick...75% extremely happy I got stick..

6MT all the way. I've always had MTs except for my last Integra. Back on manual tranny. I drive in Bay area and do not get tired at all. My right hand and my left foot just moves and the open patch it's VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

My first three cars were stick.
1. Got tired of not being able to hold drink, steer, and shift
2. #1 was OK tradeoff, but got REALLY tired of being creamed on trade-in price
Driving the stick if fun, just driving a go-cart is fun. I love go-carts, but I wouldn't drive one to work. I guess the manual transmission falls into the same category. Maybe I'm just getting old.
The other point is real though. You'll get hit for at least 10% to 20% on the back end (off the trade value) when trading in a stick - especially on a 4 door sedan.

1.... Wife is really bad at driving a stick shift.
2.... Not many available in June/July when I bought the car
3..... I live and drive in D.C. traffic . We only use one speed... stopped.!!
But i love my car anyway!

No excuses here. The auto gives you the best of both worlds. You can relax in traffic (especially during the winter months) and when the roads are clear, shift into sport mode
and have fun all the way to where ever you're headed.
