Tinting My Headlights
Tinting My Headlights
Hey guys, Iv always liked the look of tinted head and tail lights, I found kits on ebay to do it that look pretty good without being super expensive. My question is, I have 2006 White TL, do you guys think tinted lights would look good on it? Just looking for some opinions, I think the contrast on the white would be sweet, but idk. Let me know! Thanks!
I don't remember seen a white one like this but this is mine just in case..

Crestwood, tints are great on a TL. I've got headlight half tints on mine. I got them from Blue Batmobile. See his site at www.bluebatmobile.net. Not only will you see what's available, but you'll also see how they look on your car.
Thanks a ton, I cant see that link yet cause im a new member but ill check it out asap, with those tints do I need to take the headlights out? I was looking at the ones that apply over it, like a clear bra.
I think the tint on the headlights will look great! I had them on my old TSX and love it. Got some nice comments. They just apply over the headlight like a clear bra does. No need to remove the headlight.
It looks good I did it to my car when I first started..... But if you wanna tint your tails I would send them out and they paint them with automotive paint which looks really nice....As for the headlights....I had stock, tinted and the JnC ones.....and jnc wins by far ... but if you have no desire to get jnc then tint.

Here's what the Blue Bat half tints look like. You don't need to worry about how many posts you have on Acurazine to go to his site. And yes, it is a Photobucket account. Just e-mail him with your order.

Look up mmade22 (or others). His tails are tinted with vinyl. You see Stevn Bell's headlights above.
Don't tint the headlight though. Black them out. I've had both, blacked out is definetly better.

All you need is an Oven, a can of paint and some sealant. The good stuff costs $25.
Takes 1/2 of a day. Find a local to help.
Tints cost more.
I think it was $20. It came pre-cut and everything.
I just used some soapy water, sprayed the light and the tint, put it on the car and used a squeegie to get the remaining water out. The tint takes a few minutes to take the shape tint because of the headlight. Besides that it was easy

Crestwood-
I'm no mechanical genious, but I wanted the blacked out look, so I tackled the "head-light-in-the-oven" project last weekend. It looks great, and was easy to do with a can of black engine-block spray-paint, a can of clear gloss sealant, and some black silicone (all available at your local auto-zone).
I'd post some pics to boost your confidence, but my car is still in the shop after a fork-lift punched thru the trunk (long story). But, I took about 8 hours on the headlights, and progressed throught the mulitple DIY's on this site very delibrately. This is a cheap and extremely rewarding mod. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I bought 30% tint in a large sheet and tinted my headlamps by cutting my own pattern and with removing side markers. I love the look. There is an appx 10% lose in light output. I can remove the tint anytime and replace it appx 5 times with all the tint I bought all for less then $25.
Can someone post pics of tinted headlights at night, i wanna see the light output, Im thinking about leaving them stock for now and having the windows tinted. Id black out the headlights in a few months, im thinking 35% tint front windows, 25% back, what do you guys think?
I would definitely just black them out, don't tint them. There is a "how-to" on this site that will help you open up your headlights. I did mine all within a day, that's taking them off the car, opening, painting, drying, installing ZKW lenses and and re installing them. Very easy to do. I personally think the tints especially the half tints look cheesey. That's just me, so anyone who has them don't take offense to that just stating my opinion.

Maybe show your Dad this posting. If he's cool enough to buy you this car, he's cool enough to see how cool the tints will look-not only on the windows, but the headlights too.

I agree to a certain extent. I only have them because the orange was standing out too much I thought and I didn't have the time to black them out. The tint was pretty much a "temporary" cover up until I had some time on my hands.
Hopefully my lights will be blacked out with switchbacks within the next month or so

Thats what I mean, I might use a tint cover and then when I have some more money saved up and get the balls (lol) I will black them out, I know how "easy" it is iv read lots of the DIY's but it makes me uncomfortable doing that to my new car.
I had the BlueBatmobile tints for a few months and I really liked the look of it.....until I got pulled over and issued a ticket. It wasn't even a fix it ticket, but a real one for illegal modification to the vehicle. It was a pain to get the judge to dismiss it. After that, I popped of the bumper, cooked the headlights, and blacked them out while leaving the amber. It looks really slick and it 100% street legal. just my
I had a blueish tint on my old SSM TSX. Looked great, but not so dark and didn't block hardly any light. They also protect the headlight from rocks and such. Had some nice comments on them. I did smoke the tails also with 20% also.
. I'm hoping it goes well when I go to do it and I don't mess anything up.And thanks for the heads up on your switchbacks, but I've had my set for about 3 months. I just haven't had the time

The turn signals are white/yellow instead of being all yellow. It's an LED tower that you replace your regular bulb with. You really need to open up your headlight and take out the orange diffuser though.
