Tint problems

Sup eveyone, my friend today who also owns a 3rd gen Tl, noticed after he got his car tinted there are some very fine scratches from rolling the windows up and down. I didnt notice it on my car too, but me and him have similar tints and i also notice some fine scratches from rolling up and down the window. But he says that the guy that install them says that our cars are too new and the window panels are very tight. So i am wondering if anyone else here also have problems with their tints thus far!! Might have pics up later on this week!!

Scratches on tint without felt/moleskin is a known issue. Hopefully your tint installer can redo the tint. Then (at least) you can buy the moleskin and install it yourself.

From the 3G TL Garage:

Lots more info with a search on moleskin or felt.

Thanks guys for your help! Didnt really know anything about the moleskin. I still have warranty towards it. Basically do i add this felt to it or is it a whole new tint that the shop has to take out and retint the windows with?

Gotxxe,

The warranty of your car will not cover scratched tint. Sometimes the tint shop where you had the tint installed has a warranty against scratches. They will replace your tint for free.

BUT...the tint will scratch again without the felt being added to the inside weather-strip of your window seal in your car door.

Generic felt moleskin that was not designed to withstand the water and heat that it is subjected to inside your door panel will just fall off in a couple of weeks.

Some people can find the generic stuff cheap but they always have to redo it because it falls off in a matter of weeks.

You don’t have to remove your door panel on the TL to install the moleskin. No tools are required.

Buy the moleskin from flnsx, I recently bought it awhile ago. Had it installed a week ago and have been rolling my windows up and down constantly and not one scratch on it. And I have had to have my windows retinted 3 different times before I got the moleskin because it kept scratching my tint. Def. worth every penny for the moleskin.
