Is there a way to reverse the vsa button

Is there a way to hook it up so the traction control is off when I first start the car?
So I will have to turn it on when I want traction controlled? Thanks for any help!!

It will stay off untill you stop the car. When you start it again, it will be on.

I understand how the button works... I don't want to have to push the button every time I get in the car!

Before the flames start let me just say anything is possible with enough money. That being said I doubt Acura made it easy.

nope.....

If you turn off VSA and then turn off the car, VSA will be enabled the next time you start the TL.

I don't think it'd simply be a matter of reversing the button b/c of the way the button works. Not sure how you'd get this to happen.

IMO, I want VSA on most of the time for my own safety. This way, I can turn it off at my convenience only during spirited driving.

To each his own....good luck

I was posting in reply to vtechbrain. It's obvious by your post you know how the button works.

I would be careful on this one - US litigation environment would make for an interesting possibility if your modified car had a wreck, and it was found that the system had been "tinkered with". There have been cases of people getting nailed for clearing headlights and taillights, for example, by observant lawyers. A simple inconvenience is not worth a huge financial award, even if it is unlikely.

What are your reasons for wanting to have it off?

increased performance?

On a straight away, VSA (even if turned on) shouldnt make any diff right? as it only engages when you're taking turns.

someone please chime in here:

Well with all legal warnings already mentioned ...

The VSA switch is a momentary toggle switch. That means it doesn't know anything about the input or output and it doesn't latch. The switch just mementary connects the blk wire to the red/wht wire for an instant. The red/wht wire goes to the gauge control module which then relays the message on FCAN bus to the VSA control unit. The trick to this mod is the following: simulate a negative or GND pulse on the red/wht wire right after engine start up to act as if you just pushed the button. So create a circuit using a "555 one-shot" to sense a 0V to 12V transition. Have that circuit trigger a relay to connect red/whit to blk external to the switch. A one shot circuit puts out a pulse for short period of time and then returns to its previous/natural state. So the natural state would be like you NOT pushing the switch. All in all you could use 3 ICs (one shot, DC-DC power, & relay) a couple of resistors & capacitors, and perf board to make a very small circuit. Utilize 4 t-taps [+12 for main power, IGN, red/wht, & blk (GND)] to connect to the factory wires and you wouldn't even have to cut any factory wires and your setup would be complete.

when pulling out into heavy traffic I really do not like when it stops me from making a smooth quick take off. Nothing worse than not having full power when crossing over 2 lanes of traffic when hanging a left turn. Now I don't drive like a mad man but I don't want my car regulating my power flow when I may need it the most.

Or, when playing in a parking lot in the snow - no funs slides with VSA on.

And as an EE, I meant to post what spyfish did, but I agree completely with his post. This is not a DPDT switch, which could easily be rewired to get the result you want. With ECM's, actual switch position physical position functionality is not needed - the momentary input from the switch in the TL is all that is needed for the ECM or PCM (not sure which gets the input from the switch) to do its thing.

Anyone knows if we turn off the VSA, would we get a bit more power/torque to the car. So if we ran a 1/4mile, would turning the VSA off would have a faster time slip???? Just curious!!!!

Somehow I think dobber is being sarcastic ....

If I get some time I'll draw up a circuit and port it to a JPG file .... but I am really busy right now. I still haven't had time to look at the factory sunlight sensor so I can make a circuit to auto on/off the headlights. Yes I am a EE and I design&test analog CMOS circuits for a living.

Doesn't the factory sunlight sensor work in conjunction with the navigation system? If you don't have a navi, would it still work?

if you don't push the button when you start to spin the tires it kills the power so it will stop spinning. So yes you will run a better 1/4 mile if you push the button

Actually I don't see the NAVI system in that loop. The only thing I see is the climate controls. I believe each car should have the sensor on the dash.

I just went and tried something out after reading the manual. With the car off, if you press the passenger AUTO & RECYCLE buttons while turning the IGN to the on position you can monitor the sensor data for the climate control. This will actually give me a digital value to compare to the raw sensor voltage. The manual converts the digital values to expected weather conditions (sunny, cloudy, night, etc). From there I can make my circuit. I still think it will only cost about $10. More to come and I'll probably just bring the old auto headlight thread back to the top.

Hope you find some free time, soon. I'd be very interested in this mod.

For thoughs of us that are not EE's that seems like alot of trouble when you could just push a button. As for the auto headlight thing if you park your car in a garage every time you start up your headlights go on. This can reduce the life of your bulbs. Just something to consider.

It wouldn't be a lot of trouble to have some sort of override. It could be a button, switch, or possibly even integrated into the headlight switch. Hell, I'd use the XM button on my radio! haha
