TailLights Mod Idea

Does anyone else think the taillights LED on the TL look dim compare to the LED on the 3 series coupe? Well I looked at the tail light and there is a plastic shield or something infront of the LED lights to reduce to brightness of the rear taillights which make them look less LED than they could have. I was just wondering if someone had try to remove this plastic shield to get the max output for the LEDs like the BMW or the G35. Yeah we are not trying to make our car look like them but I like the fact they they look LEDs instead of just regular bright lights

Good idea starting a new thread on this. Your last post got buried amongst all those pictures, so I deleted it since you put this here. Hope you get some good replies here.

i dont like it..

i'd rather have leds that look like a leds.they are pretty large anyways..looking at the taillights it seems that this piece can be easily removed or brake off...someone go for it..be a leader

Prolly because the Amber/Yellow peices in front are UGLY. But I see no problems with the Tails except for the fact that the rear turn signals are Bulb and not LED like Brakes. Personally it sounds like alot of work for very little gain.

I am almost finished clearing my Side Markers from Amber to White. Will definately post pics when its done.

3rd break light

I believe that our 3rd break light do not have a shield infront of it that is why it is much nicer/brighter then the tail lights. Have you ever park/drive behind a 3 series coupe with LEDs...just look awesome. Wells i got a chance to drive behind my car and even though our TL tail lights are bright they are dull compare to the FX, G35, 330Ci. Just some food for thought.

i think the shield is there to take out some light, or else it will be blinding to other drivers...

Interesting idea, I dont think we need to clear the headlights. Especially since the taillights will be changed in 06, we can just pick them up then.

i took a look at my old tail light before it was replaced and it seemed like there was a really thick clearish plastic piece b/w the led's and the red lens, thats deff our prob there guys, so if anyone would like to attempt it go for it, as far as for me unless i can pick up a set of tail lights for cheap i wont be doin this mod

Hey 04AcuraTL you are a perfect candidate for this. I have a broken taillights which you can easily play with and remove the plastic shield. If i remember correctly you taillights are not completely broken so you can still see the result through the unbroken part of your taillights. Do it
