Stupid Question About Lights
Stupid Question About Lights
Originally I thought the dome lights were the ones that you could click on and off at the top of the car. However, my friend corrected me in saying that they were map lights?
What exactly is a map light and what exactly is a dome light?
Pics if possible please. Thank you.

Map lights are also dome lights. The lights by the rear view mirror come on when you open the door just like the dome light in the rear, but these same lights can also be turned on to read maps or whatever. They can also be switched off so they don't go on when you open the door, like when you are trying to sneak into the house late at night. The switch will turn both dome lights off.
All TL's, navi and non-navi, have the same setup for the lights.
See page 104 of the owner's manual, where the map/dome lights are called "ceiling lights".
When you open the doors, they act as dome lights.
When you push up on the individual lens, they light up and act as map, or spot, lights.
You may have pushed the "Off" side of the switch, so your lights don't come on when the door is opened.
