stupid manual question!
I got my tranmission fluid changed and i turned the car on and pressed the clutch in and went through my gears.....i can get into first, second, third and fourth and then fifth and sixth is blocked. Is that how it is normally? I dont remember? Thanks Ania
burgman is right you might be pushing to the right too hard(when stationary). just push it slightly to the right then up and down. it's not like a 5 speed where you push hard right and then up for 5th. when driving it's easier to get into 5th and 6th because reverse is blocked and you can push hard to the right to get into that gate.
From time to time (when stationary) whether the engine is running or not, you might find you can't shift into a given gear.. any gear. This is because the gear teeth are aligned with one another and not offset like they should be for a shift to be completed. If your engine is running. Simply move the shifter into neutral, let the clutch out a bit, then try to go back into your chosen gear. Or do this, then start into one gear, say 2nd or 3rd, then try your shift into the higer gear. If you still have or find your transmission having an on-going or frequent problem with this, get it in to your dealer for service.
