Stupid Dealership!!!

i finally got my WDP tl type s yesterday! what an awesome car! i'm still breaking her in but my friends really like the gadgets and whatnot in the car. here's the sucky part...

i bought some tire shine stuff today and went to go clean my tires and i see some damage on the rim. it looks like it hit a curb. i know i didn't do it b/c i drove super careful all day long. i called the salesman and he said to just bring it by.i know when i take it to the dealership, they're going to tell me that it wasn't there before and that i might have done it. is there any way that they'll replace it for me? how should i go about getting things my way in this situation? anyone have a similiar problem like this? the damage on the rim is ruining my type-s experience right now.

The first thing you have to do is breathe. Cuz shit happens.

Secondly, so that they don't blow you off and use that excuse you said, or rather to increase the odds they won't...appear calm and mature about it when you go see them. Very important. If they view you as an asshole, they will make you prove they did it and you already know you can't. Right?

Just explain the problem, tell them you were with friends who can vouch you drove safely, and they will probably, if it's bad enough, just replace the wheel or offer you a form of compensation. But it's really a hope thing, as you didn't mention it before you left, but because of where it is, it could have been easily overlooked by all. So just insist that it was them, but do it nicely. If you get nowhere with them (sales manager and general manager), then you can always contact Acura.

Good luck!

P.S. - For the record, I would like to note my willingness, in sound mind and body, to help out a WDP'er. You may now return to your regularly scheduled program.

I will share my experience with you and hopefully you'll feel better about getting your wheel fixed.

About a month after I purchased my 07 new, I hit a curb damaging one of my stock rims. I looked around on repairs and eventually called and spoke with my service manager. He said that he could have the wheel fixed for $50. I was skeptical because the lowest quote I received was $160 at a wheel store.

Long story short, the dealer has a vendor fix my wheel. Apparently they use this vendor to repair their used cars rims.

I can not even tell where the damage was. Let me know how it goes.

MM before I drove my car off the lot, I did a full inspection of the car. I noticed a little scratch on my rim, LITTLE
I told the sales person about it, and she told me to come in that Saturday.
and I was calm. I didn't give nasty looks, no nasty breathing, no nasty body language. Just nice and cool.

I went in, and they exchanged it....

Checking the rim, I noticed a white circle going around the edge(if you don't work with tires, it is a bitch to get these michelins off and he probably screwed up)

I told them to replace it again, and the same thing happened.

I was still calm, but was just pissed to see that they can't get a damn thing done right around there. It took 4 tries before I left. I didn't even check the last time, I just left. Someone borrowing my car would eventually hit a curb anyways =\

Oh, this is McGrath Acura in Morton Grove by the way... never go to them.

i'm actually going in today to get a number of things done. in addition to getting my rim fixed, i'm also getting a scratch on my rear bumper fixed. they said they would throw in the carbon fiber trim for the rear vent for my troubles. we'll see how things work out.

Dealer sounds like they want to make you happy - free carbon fiber is a nice touch.

The wheels on the TL-S leave NO room for error, as I and many others will attest. Curbed mine about a week after I got it .

If the dealer replaces it, great . If not, lesson learned; Do a thourough pre-acceptance inspection next time you purchase.
