lol i'd put a Type-s badge just to make someone with a type-s model uncomfortable. It's the same freaking car just a .3+ on the engine and a few modifications like exhaust and rims, oh wow!! lol.

I am debadging mine to everything except the type s badge is that ricer??

And I am getting the illuminated A for the ass except will wire mine to only come on with 3rd brake light due to overly tinted rear window.

But I would roll a window down to chunk up a duece at a fellow TL driver.

I can't believe I forgot about my friend's Fiearri. One of those terrible Fiero kit cars. I used to drive by and laugh at it on the way home from work when it was at a used car dealer. Then one of my good friends bought it. I could not believe it. I would not ride in it, I would barely sit in it. Not only was it fake but it was one of the worst kit cars I've ever seen. Stock 2.8L 130hp engine with a pretty loud exhaust. The worst thing was he really tried to pass it off as a Ferrari. But he's the guy that also had an "M3" 328i, his first CL Mercedes was a CL 500 rebadged as a CL55AMG and later a CL600 as a 65. Luckily now he owns the real deal. Unfortunately he also has the same Porsche 951 from when we were kids. While all I cared about was racing and making my car look and sound stock, he was all about flash. As it sits, the Porsche has 300zx headlights poorly integrated into the hood. A scoop right in the middle similar to the 550 Maranello which he's actually told people the hood came off of a Ferrari. A poorly fitting fiberglass "hatch" that consists of a small rear window couple style that replaces the hatch back and a GT1 emblem on the rear. It has the mandatory big spoiler out back. He tells people this was one of two GT1 944s ever built. It runs good, trapped 113mph in the 1/4 but it looks like something a poor 16yr old would throw together, not a 36yr old man.

I'm leaving my TL at his house for 5 days while I go on my cruise, I hope it doesn't become a "Type S" while I'm gone lol.

Lol. No way. We've been friends since '94 and he's always been about show until he go the real Brabus CL65 with 704hp. I've always been about trying to look stock and slow and go fast. Nothing has changed in all these years.

In fact, until I found out I owed the IRS $30K+ I was going to buy the turbo kit for my TL and make it sound and look bone stock.

Lol reminded me of a guy I know that had an EK hatch. That thing was riced out. Primered, bad fitment wide body kit, spoiler, you name it, he has it. Except that under the hood he had a built motor pushing a gt40 turbo LOL. Thing hauled ASS! Too bad it look like it also.

When I was in HS, this kid that no one liked had a 96 hatchback civic that he had gutted out all the way and slapped a turbo on it. Smartly though, he didn't put a fartcan exhaust on it, I believe he left the exhaust stock, and I was in my buddies 05 M3 and that civic shit on us. My buddy was so pissed that he had even tried to gas it.

Thats how a good sleeper should do it.

 

Chalk one up for the kid nobody likes. Fuck yeah.





On a different note, if I had a tl-s I would debadge everything except the tl-s. I also think it's cheesy when ppl try to fake others out with type s badges.

 

Though I agree with not putting TL-S badges on basic TL's,
the 2004/5/6 6MT model was the 'unofficial' Type-S for those model years.

It happens with every car. When Vtec integras were new people were rebaging non vtecs as vtec. When the type-R came out everyone wanted that badge. The day I saw an integra with a racing stripe I sold it and bought an NSX. My integra had one of the first JR SCers so it was a great car but I needed something that was out of the price range of the mentaly challenged.

I also have a Range Rover I see those get rebadged as the supercharged version all the time. So there goes my idea that people with money aren't as big of idiots.

Anymore I could care less I have bigger things to worry about. I bought my base model TL as my beater not sure what mods if any I will do to it. Whould be nice if someone made some custom leather for it but it seems the aftermarket world is pretty small for the TL. Maybe that is why you see so many rebadged as type-s.

 

 

I think people need to travel to India before they can make any comments. Its a completely different culture. I went To Bangalore last year and that probably would have been one of the nicest cars on the road. Majority of things on the road were motorcycles. Small ones at that, by our standards probably early 80's styling. People need to remember the rickshaw is still a very common vehicle there. We probably have a 50-60 year head start on a lot of countries. I don't think it makes them look dumb it just shows them being like us and doing the best with what they have available to them.

 

There are actually quite a few differences other than ".3+ on the engine and a few modifications like exhaust and rims". Why don't you peruse your way around this site, maybe learn a few things and appreciate the differences between what your car is and isn't :-D.

 

I could understand that but that's not what we're dealing with here. It was obvious listening to the guy talk he knew nothing about cars. No one in their right mind would think it looks nice. The "racing" tires were just average tires. The electric supercharger is a gimmick, does nothing whatsoever, it was just a bunch of crap bolted to the car. The money could have been spent on some real mods. IMO it was just bad taste.

 

Honestly i think having a type s badge on a base TL is kinda lame (sry to those whos done this no trollin =D). I've seen several normal mercedes like c300 with AMG badge thats just like...facepalm. And seriously if he was gonna put the type s badge up at least put it at the right place? Under the TL badge?...really now...

To throw my 2cents in here, I do not care what people do with their cars, look slick, nice, stupid, dumb w.e... However I will still laugh if I see any of this ish such as the Toyota rolling down the highway with a Lexus badge claiming to be an ES 350... Two things come to mind after my laughing stops... 1. Either that guy really wishes he could afford a Lexus... or 2. He really thinks he is fooling people and he has a Lexus... Some of the vids posted up go to show, some people just have no idea and maybe wish they did?

All I have to say to that is “Reading is a gift”… ha

 

Lexus does have an es350 unless they discontinued but the lack of dual exhaust gives that away.

And I am tired of Kia trying to make their cars look like higher end car copies.

See so many and each model copies a different car. I shake my head and laugh at the owners that think they can fit in to the 35k + car crowd when they paid less than 20k off the lot new.
