Stolen 2005 TL

10 day-old Certified Used bought from Springfield Acura in New Jersey was stolen from my home this morning. I'm not too far from Newark so I'm willing to bet that the car is somewhere in that vicinity. No tags on the car yet but there are 2 child seats installed in there. If you happen to see something please drop a dime to Scotch Plains NJ police.

Thanks

It's Anthracite/Ebony. License plate still has the Springfield Acura plaque although they might have changed it out by now. Either way it's still a stock TL with 2 child seats in the back (and a stroller in the trunk).

Thanks

Wow..that's crazy, not even the Plainfield boys know how to steal cars really. It had to be someone from Newark, that's what makes me so nervous about temp plates because it's so hard to distinguish your cars from the others. Did you have gap insurance?

I HIGHLY doubt the carseats are still in it, unless the cartheif just happens to have two little ones . .=) My guess is those are in a dumpster somewhere

What did your insurance company, police station say ?

so rolling codes in key are no protection against theif? crap.

Car needs to implement "lockout" feature like Windows where 3 wrong codes will stop the car from starting for 10 minutes

We don't know that for sure yet. He didn't say how the car was stolen.

For all we know, they could've simply put the car on a flat-bed and driven away.

If they really want your car, they will find a way to take it. Towing is probably one of the ways......

I'll bet it's in Newark somewhere. That's where they found my ex-Accord the 1st time it was stolen when I lived in NJ. You should head over there and cruise some of the sh|t neighborhoods. Likely it's young punks joyriding.

Xtin's right, when you get it back, get LoJack!

I was pretty mad when my 94 Acura Legend was stolen. CMPD recovered the car the next day ...found it in an apt. complex in a lower income section of the city.

The auto theft theives had to have a key to start the TL.

Otherwise it was towed.

Goodluck bro.

If my TL ever got stolen, I would never want it back.

I hope they never find your TL and you get full money back + car seats+ stroller. This way you can buy a new one!

dang, i'm really sorry to hear about that. my friends Cadillac CTS got stolen a few months ago in Chicago...he was hoping the police wouldn't find it but they eventually found it under a highway bridge a few weeks later. strangely, nothing was wrong with it. nothing was stripped and the engine seems to run fine, even the radar detector and coins he had in the car were still there....dunno why someone would steal a car and leave everything in it. but i guess there are always gonna be stupid people in the world. Best of luck to you, i hope everything works out well.

Sorry to hear about your TL, maybe it was a inside job at the dealership. Probably someone in service made a copy of the rolling code key. In a month you will have a new TL if they don't recovery the vehicle, good luck.

I think K-shawn is right on target. No such thing as a coincidence...not really.

I smell inside job

How many sets of keys did you get?

I mean technically if its someone who works in the parts department, they can get a sapre set made by looking up the code for the key, program it, and take the car whenever they want.

Its too much of a coincidence that you just got the car, and its gone before you even got the tags.

True, but why didn't the person just take it off the lot then? Why wait till its sold and delivered?

I mean if they took a car off the lot. Do you know how long it would take the dealership to find out? They have hundreds of cars I am sure they will not notice it is gone. By the time they do, the parts will be sold on ebay, installed by the seller and in for warranty work!

I wouldnt take if off the lot, do you know everytime a dealership gets robed, especially a clean job, no forced entry and an entire car that has an immobilizer, employees are always the first suspects, security all over the building and such...........like cameras, and motion sensors, is also something that would make it harder.

why would you risk your day job?

Or just look up the buyers info, make a key (did you recieve all keys, 2 main sets and a valet set and both remotes? ) and take it when the buyer is sleeping.

I wouldnt, so they waited, and took it when they scopped the place out.

Regular theives dont just pick the first car they see, they do the HW, I really think it was an inside job, someone from the inside helped this car get stollen, good thing is, you can get a full check, whatever you paid for it back, since it didnt really depreciate yet, I wouldnt even want that car back............and deal with all the problems and drama, try to get the money and buy something else.

I wouldn't bet my life on the Lojack, my e- GF had her Focus stolen about 5 years ago and they found a way to get around it, most of these cows will take it if they really want it.

When I got my '05 TL, they didn't give me a second key/key fob, but I didn't realize it until I got home. The next day I went back to the dealership and told them. They had to re-program everything, including the on-board side, to recognize the new key code.

One thing I was worried about was someone using the second key to lift the car since I knew it was supposed to come w/ 2 keys.

BTW, where "around Newark"? What zip code?

Yeah, too bad they don't have that in Ohio. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Sorry to hear about your car, sixgears.

Wow, my family grew up in Scotch Plains / Plainfield and I can't say I'm surprised, everyone they knew there friends neighbors all had their houses broken into numerous times, therefore everyone has lots of security, and there's still a lot of crime and breakins from the surrounding areas sorry to say. Coulda been Tony Soprano, he's from right near there! hehe

Well ...

After almost 3 weeks of waiting - THE TL IS BACK!

Cops found it in Plainfield NJ, one town over from where I live. No damage except that every stuff I had in the car (car seats, stroller, etc.) was gone.

I guess it's time to think about Lojacking this thing!

Sounds like some kids joy riding, glad they didn't wreck it. Plainfield has gotten better over the years but there is always the ones trying to prove something. Did they dust it for prints or anything?

GM's been doin this baisically for a while (late 80's) with VATS and passlock - if the wrong resistor value is read by the BCM 3 times in a row the car wont start for 10 minutes. -their version is pretty easy to bypass though. never tried it on a honda/acura though so couldn't confirm this as a feature of the anti theft system.

Glad you got it back. But if I were you I wouldn't want it back. It feels 'touched' 'abused' Just a mental thing that I have.

Also its good that it wasn't damaged. Hope they caught, highly doubt it though....
