SS mode on Automatics
Guys,
Has this ever happened to you? I have a 2004 TL, it's S/C'd. This morning when I shifted to SS(manual) mode, I did not see the number on the gear. I downshifted and nothing happened, seems like it was stuck in regular AT model. First time it ever happened to me... I was on the road, so I pulled into a shopping center and restarted the car. Everything back to normal..... was strange.
Has this ever happened to anyone?
"didn't put this in problem and fixes because I don't think it's an issue yet"

it all depends on the gear you are in at the time. if you are in 3rd and try to goto 2nd, and your RPMS will be past redline the car will not let you downshift. it's just a safety thing

^ that's not what I meant. I shifted into SS mode and the number doesn't come up. It drove like if it were in regular mode. In other words, the SS mode never switched over even though I switched it to SS mode from regular. I stomped the gas on SS mode and it shifted for me as if I was in regular mode.

yes, didn't work until I parked, shut off the engine and restarted. I've driving a few times since this morning and everything has been normal. Just a weird glitch I guess.....................

That happened to my 04 TL too. When I took into the dealer they said some sensor chip or something went so it was unable to switch into the manual mode. It's covered by warranty, so just mention it and they'll fix it. Sad this is they said that the chip is located right under the cup holder and the reson why it blew was b/c some type of liquid, soda coffee, etc. was on it. Now why would you put such an important piece of circuitry under something that's the most prone spot to a liquid spill in the car? Beats me. Hope I helped.
P.S. I had the exact same problems, no numbers showing up or ability to shift. On top of that the dealership said they'd fix it the one time for free but if it happened again it'd be negligence. Who's fault is it for putting the chip there?
