Sprint Bluetooth phone

Just picked up my TL yesterday. Love the car! Has anyone tried the Ericson T608 with Sprint? The phone is going for $199.00 (no rebates are currently available). It would be nice to here some positive feedback before getting into another 2yr contract.

Thanks

I just got a TL and just ordered the phone.. for $199 it has no contract requirements, so if you're currently contract free with sprint you can continue that way. If you do sign a contract then you can get a rebate and get some $ off the $199.

Call the sprint 800 number for equipment orders and they will set you up with the T608. Although I am just about to purchase, I checked this out personally a week ago. AFter all, what's the point of having a bluetooth option and no bluetooth phone available!

I've used the T608 with my TL for a couple months. It works GREAT. The phone isn't very good... battery life is poor (especially when using a bt connection), and phone is very basic. If you keep it plugged in with a car charger you'll be fine though. Just don't expect much more than an average phone withi below battery life. I think it's worth it though... the bt connection is really convenient.

I've had a better experience with my T608 than this person. I agree it's not the be all end all of cell phones, but I get excellent reception and building penetration, far fewer dropped calls than any other phone I've owned, and I get very positive feedback about sound quality when placing or receiving BT calls. If you put a BT adapter on your PC, you easily can sync contacts or drag and drop pictures and ringers to or from the phone without cables. I used to get poor battery life also, but after a few charging cycles, I now get 2-3 days out of it with BT on (depends on the number of calls), more if I turn BT off while away from the car. I like the phone just fine.

Just spoke to the Retention department at Sprint. Threatened to leave there service since I am under no contract.
They are going to send me the phone with a 100% mail-in rebate and upgrade my plan to a Cingular plan I was considering. There is no change in the price of my plan. Just had to sign one year.
Not bad.
The retention department will help you.

Does this phone have internet access? I have found the internet access on my current phone to be very valuable when out and about and would not want to give this up!!

Michaelvg1:
How did you pull this off? I just got off the phone with Retention and they told me a few discouraging things:
1. Retention does not offer phone rebates. He said I would have to get the rebate through telesales, and it would only be a $100 rebate. He also kept saying that rebates are only available when you buy the phones from radio shack or a sprintpcs store, but obviously that is not possible with this phone. I'm very confident this guy was clueless.
2. I asked if I was able to get the phone with the $100 rebate, could he offer me the other $100 in service credits. At first he said yes, but then said only with a 2 year contract, not a 1 year. I think he said he could do $50 in credits with a 1 year contract but it was not clear.
3. He also said that I could not actually order the phone through Retention, but according to your post, this is exactly what you did.

did you speak to a supervisor, or just get lucky with who picked up your call?

Thanks

I spoke to someone in the retention department If I sign a two year contract they will do the following: Give me a $130.00 credit on my next Sprint phone bill, first two months of the contract are unlimited calling, finally he added some vision package (I am not 100% sure what it is) to my plan free of charge. You can't call retention directly, you have to go through customer service first.

Kokopelli33: Is the vision package he added free for as long as you have the phone or just for the first 2 months? It comes free standard for the first 2 months, so they didn't do much for you there (it's $15/month after that). Also, FYI, the person I spoke to said the standard rebate for a 2 year contract is actually $150, but you said you got a service credit. When I talked to retention, I was told the best credit they could give (non-rebate), was 50% off one month's service, and they can only do that once every 12 months, so the best she could offer me is forcing me to sign a 2 year contract, getting me a $150 rebate, but then I would basically have to sign up for a $100 (or more) a month plan, which she could give me 50% off for the first month, meaning a $50 service credit. out of curiousity, how much a month is your base plan?

Credit is as good or better than the rebate. No receipts to copy, no forms to fill out, goof up, or mail in, and no waiting period. I did not have to re-up for two years. Sprint offered an on the spot, $100 billing credit in lieu of the T608 rebate, period. All I had to do was agree to not mail in the original rebate coupon, which was fine with me. Any further rebates or credits available for extending a contract are above, beyond, and in addition to the basic T608 rebate.

I do not pay $15/month for Vision. I get it for free on one phone and pay $5/month each for two other family phones ($10/month buys unlimited Vision for three phones).

Yes, all that is visible on the display.. I wish a voicemail indicator was, but thats the only thing that isn't

I have had mine for many months with little problems.. the few I have are as follows:

1) Sometimes there is crackling in the audio... when ringing you can ehar it bad.. not as bad when the caller is on, but it is there .. not all the time.

2) Occasionally, after a call starts to ring, the car drops the call. You just hit the button and say TRANSFER and you get it back. the call doesn't get ccutoff from the phojne, but somehow the bluetooth connection gets cut... I thought this had to do with battery or signal but it is neither... it only happens occasionaly.

3) I use mine as a second phone and keep it plugged into the console plug and keep the phone in there just on all the time.

I am waiting for a bluetooth TREO 600, which is my primary phone.. rumors talk about one coming out, but I bouth this in the meantime.

so what is the exact price of the phone with a one year contract??? i don't want to sign up for 2 year deal because i will probably switch to verizon and get the v710 when it comes out. but i want a blue tooth phone in the meantime to use with the car. it sucks when you have to use the phone in traffic in a 6MT.

I recieved my T608 this morning, it's not a bad phone, just lacking options like built-in camera. For me, the screen is a bit too small, no offence to anyone, but the type is extreamly small so if you have glasses, you'll need them (i'm 19, don't need glasses, yet ). It's $199 from sprint, works great with bluetooth in the TL, even displays battery and signal, with bluetooth on, battery time is diminished. You could sell your old phone on ebay and make out pretty well depending what phone you have. I just got a Samsung VGA 1000 in January, starting bid is at $100 if you want it?
