Spray Engine Covers?

How do i do this lol

i have a WDP so im assuming white engine covers would look good.

im just making sure that im not making a mistake

so all i do is sand it down with some sand paper, clean it up good and lay down the white spray paint and some clear coat right?

will it stick? will the heat affect it?

Yea, u pretty much said it right. It will stick, juss buy some heat resistant paint

Here is the DIY from the this thread
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...g+engine+cover

Remove all the parts
wash
sand with 800 lightly unless you want it glass smooth
wipe with IPA or prepsol
spray with primer for plastic adhesion
I used Caliper paint for the gold and engine paint for the grey
Spray light coats 10 min apart. I did 4 coats.
Let dry over nite
Install

I painted one of my engine bay pieces white, and it stuck out like a sore thumb. It did not match the White Diamond Pearl at all. If you want it to match, and be glass smooth, take it to a body shop that will sand it properly, as well as do paint match.

I painted that piece flat black about a week later.

I suggest taking it to a shop too if you're not good with spray paint. I spent about $30 for materials, then another $50 to replace the thing ultimately. It turned out ok, but at the end I messed it up because of overspray.

My bodyshop quoted me around $100-150, which isnt that much more to get it done professionally.

It's worth it to get it professionally done, especially if you are doing the WHOLE engine bay, and not just the main cover.

If you want a color missmatch then go for it .. Our paint is a tri color in other words the base white is laid down .. then the pearl that softens the white then the clear.

I own 2 white cars and my son another and 20 feet apart they all look the same .. side by side they are a long way off.

Just a heads up .. thats why I didn't go white on my engine .

Ya but white is a whole different animal.. ever notice how many color mismatches on factory WDP over the other colors.

Meh....do whatever you want. Just telling you what I've done, and I've had no issues. Pearl paint is going to be tough to match no matter the color. White isn't special. IMO, from what I've seen, Anthracite is the toughest one to match.

I've painted my grill, projector bezels, trunk trim and rear ASPEC DGP, Carries grill and trunk trim Anthracite, and a 2.5G RL grill whatever pearl red color it is, and like I said I've had no noticeable matching problems. A lot of people on here have seen my work and will tell you the same.
