and the rest of the trip was:

but i got to learn something about my car:
when the light comes on, you have ~3 gallons left....
when the range gets to 0, you have ~2 gallons left...
i got ~100 miles after the light came on and my car stalled 1 mile short of my exit....lucky i was carrying a gallon gas in my trunk !!!

I thought if i make it thro the exit the first thing i will do is get gas....the car stalled 1 mile before the exit
and i pulled over, put gas, went to gas station and filler her up....i didnt try to start her up or anything like that !!! Yet i hope i didnt cause any damage

)
or how did you come to this conclusion
sounds better
)or how did you come to this conclusion
sounds better I have to admit, it might have been a bit...well, funny/reckless, but I'm kinda glad that you did this little experiment because now I know that kind of info in case of emergency. Or just to know.
I personally always make sure I have half a tank in whatever car I'm driving so I'm not screwed if I lose my wallet, some crazy disaster happens or I need to leave in a hurry to help someone out.

reckless = kinda (was traveling alone so, not really)
would i do this again = u kiddin me !!! HELL NO !!!
AS you said, just wanted to know how long can i go after the light comes on and the range is 0 !!!

That sounds about right, when I fill up right when the light comes on I fill 50Litres. Tank is 65L so 15Litres to go. I've done this a few times and it's consistent so I can vouch for swoosh's findings.
Go metric system! =D

Here's some info I put in from time to time for the benefit of newcomers.
This info is excerpted from a very long thread I started about fuel tank capacities, etc. and is based on actual and precise testing
a. When the low fuel warning light comes on, if you are getting 25 mpg you can go 94 miles, but if you are only getting 20 mpg, you can only go 74 miles. Of course, other miles per gallon figures will result in different results.
b. When miles to empty reads zero, that is time to fill up, but you can still go 57 miles at 25mpg, but only 45 miles at 20mpg.
c. When filling the tank, if you stop at the first shutoff, you will have about 17 gallons in the tank.
d. The tank will actually hold about 19 gallons, but it is not recommended to fill the tank to capacity, so stop at the first shutoff.

Lotta trouble for something you could've read in 5 minutes. (IMHO). It's all explained here (and countless other threads):

-NOT REALLY !!! Once the light came on I was getting 31mpg and I could go 99 miles....which means 31*3 = 93 miles.....so if your getting 25mpg you will be able to squeeze out 75-80 miles and by no means 94 miles !!!
b. When miles to empty reads zero, that is time to fill up, but you can still go 57 miles at 25mpg, but only 45 miles at 20mpg. - about right !!!
c. When filling the tank, if you stop at the first shutoff, you will have about 17 gallons in the tank. ~16.5
d. The tank will actually hold about 19 gallons, but it is not recommended to fill the tank to capacity, so stop at the first shutoff.

I did....pulling from 2nd lane to shoulder with your car stalled was crazy...I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND anyone to do this.....the ABS and Power Steering dont work when your car is off !!!

I can't believe no one has made a Kramer reference yet.
But either way that is cool as heck. I saw that once too...but then within 2 miles back to reality about like 26mpg on the highway and then 22 combined city. 505 miles on a tank would be friggin great.

That's a cool experiment. You can do the math all day but it's real life that counts.
FP is probably ok. It usually won't fail immediately but you may have shortened the life a little.
I would worry more about the lean condition right before it died.... but seriously, you probably have nothing to worry about.
I've got a picture somewhere of mine getting >50mpg for 17+ miles. I started it at the top of the grapevine and even when you get down to what seems like level ground you're still on a decline for 20 miles.

Thank you SIR !!!
I mean you could have just looked it up, lol. But its always fun to do things yourself. Also, it is horrible so I hear to run down to nothing on gas. Mainly because it will then suck up all the dirt and stuff that is in the tank when it gets that low.
