Simple Question..Really Confused??

Alright guys, I am suppose to take delivery of my new TL some where around Feb 15th (Its suppose to be built next week). I purchased the car up in NJ, but now I am permanently moving to NC. The company I am going to work for is including car shipping from NJ to NC. Should I take this option or drive it down.

The shipping is fully insured in an open trailer. I have an option of getting closed trailer for $250, which would come out of my pocket, as the company only includes open trailer.

I am not sure what I should do, drive or ship??? Please help...

If you bought and didn't lease, drive it... It'll be fun! Maybe get a bra just for the trip... Also, please note all the break-in tips for your new toy (change RPM ranges, no hard revving or braking, etc...)...

DRIVE IT, and you'll love it so much you'll just keep on going. But if you do trailer it spend the extra $250 and cover it.

NJ to NC is not that far, I would drive. Since the car has not been broken in yet, so I would try to drive local roads to vary the speed.

I am really thinking about driving it too, but considering its the Winter Season and Snowing in the Northeast. You think salt is going to be a major problem, I have heard people having paint chips problems, would salt cause this.

I would drive the car down, if I were you. It'll be fun, even during the winter. You might consider doing the clear bra ASAP to avoid salt/rock chips to protect your girl.

Drive it down! The alternative is the truck driver unloading the TL and dropping a chain or securing bracket on the hood! Don't take any chances, dude....

also, DarkWraith33 makes an excellent point. Buy a bra! Look at www.handaaccessories.com for prices (better than the dealer). Or else, think about getting a clear bra (will cost you a few hundred more, but you never have to remove it)...

IT IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT TO VARY YOUR SPEED!

if you have plenty of time, then drive it down. just make sure you vary your speed often...

O.... and if you are gona get a bra.... dont get the regular bra.... it will actually scratch your clear coat. either get the clear bra that stays on for a long time or dont get one at all.

The clear bra is the optimal choice, but the regular bra is ok. It might leave a few scratches, but that better than chipped paint. Either way, he just needs to drive the car down (and enjoy it!!!!).

Agreed, drive it yourself. You can use the opportunity to break it in right, and save the money.

drive it

get a clear bra installed and drive it down there...

You never know about thse delivery guys... putting it on a truck can (depending on how low and the angle) scrape the bottom of the bumper...

They might decide to drive the car a tad. I had that happen once...

If you got the time, drive it down... modulate speed and keep it under 4000 rpms. Not sure what acura states exactly, but I tend to lay off the engine for the first 1000 miles... Sure an occasional burst is good, but I tend to go easy on the car.

Gotta go with the majority, pick it up. get some PPF and drive it. Then you can become one with the car. Not to mention a good way to break her in and get to know the nuances. Enjoy the car and most of all, enjoy driving it ........ GO FOR IT!

Any links to pics of the clear bra? I've never seen it before. I just ordered the regular bra and now I'm wondering if I should send the sucker back...

Thanks.

www.xpel.com

it is clear, you virtually cant see it unless you get close up to the hood... and the only time you can tell is if you see where the end of the clear bra ends and the hood without the paint begins

your paint shows through like nothing changed...

when i had it on my infiniti fx35 it looked great, and then when somebody got really close to the hood they thought i had a scratch across the entire hood...but then they realized what it was

Check the gallery at Rockblocker.com. I believe Chad has pictures of his work. You might also do a search on it. A good number of the members here have it. If you're worried about how it looks, you can't even tell it's there unless you're looking for it. On my AM looking from the front it's impossible to see. Viewing it from the rear, you're able to see where the film ends.

I agree with everyone, you should drive it down. I used to make the drive from McGuire AFB to just north of Durham a lot when I was in the Air Force (I grew up in NC). It's a great drive, and you'll get to go through Baltimore, DC, and Richmond on the way, so varying your speed for the break in will be easy. When you're on open freeway, you can also just drive in different gears, it's more the RPM's that you need to vary than the speed.
