Silly question, emblem help.

I am going to be replacing the Acura logo/emblem on the rear center part of the trunk lid with the one below. I know there are 2 holes underneath the emblem, I assume there are clips as well as adhesive tape? Guess the question is do I need to get to them from the back of the trunk lid. I saw a video on youtube where the emblem just came off with some heat and some floss, they didn't show the clips or anything being done from inside (or the back) of the trunk lid.

use a narrow, unshape knifey thing to pry a section just enough to get floss in, floss all around, then use a narrow butterknife and without scratching the car, work your way to the center, till one of the two posts that go inside the trunk pop out. Then do the other side.

So no need to mess with the clips on the inside it sounds.

I havent had to before. but if you not careful with removal, you may break the OEM emblem.

Its not really clips, its just aigners that keep it in place, the adhesive holds the emplem on.

Sounds good, I will just exercise patience when doing this soon. Hopefully it'll look good black on black.

Just for reference, this is what the underside of the OEM emblem looks like.

A good idea to warm the emblem "ring" with a har dryer so the adhesive warms and its easier to peel the emblem off without breaking it.

Yep got a heat gun from a work buddy so that's the plan. Floss or fishing line..or does it really matter...can't imagine it would. Previous owner already debadged the "Acura" as shown, I think it'll turn out decent.

I bet with the heat gun you may be able to pry it pretty easy. I have done it where after the heat gun I use al my nails except my thumbs and gentley, slowly pry it out by hand.

All the chrome on the car is pretty much gone now, besides the front emblem, guess I could do that as well lol.
