Should I make the move??
Hi all 3rd gen'ers. I currently own an 02 DWP TL-S and am considering purchasing a 05 TL. The question is: should I do it?
My 02 has been a less than satisfying purchase. I am on my second tranny (counting down until I am on my 3rd). The ride has been plagued with mysterious vibrations (50-80mph+), and I just dont have that 'fun to drive' feeling anymore when I get behind the wheel.
I like the styling of the 05 and would really like to make the move. So what do you guys (and gals ) think? I see there are some vibration problems with the 04's. Did this follow into the 05's?
Thanks in advance.

The vibration is there on some cars, acura has a tsb to add a weight to the transmission mount.
Only the auto trans TL's seem to have problems, our 2005 manual trans car
has had no vibrations or other problems, not a rattle, squeek, not a single
problem at all.
I would not be so sure the auto trans problems are totaly fixed, people report the fluid looking dark quite early and its recomended to change it often.
No one knows if that will prevent failure.
I myself would not get an auto trans TL.

Brett, the TSB you are talking about, is that the one with the dynamic damper, or another one?

Yes, you should!
I've had one problem with the car:
Squeaking breaks
Which Acura fixed with new 06 pads and 06 rotors.
Other than that no rattles, vibrations, any of that sort!

its a weight on the transmission, to damp out vibrations.
My old jaguar had one, mounted inside the rear transmission mount.

Sure why not. I had a 2001 TL Mont erray Blue. I was lucky and did not have transmission problems. I have an 04 6MT and love it. At least with a manual I know that Honda's standard is tried and true.

You come to the 3G board and you expect a different answer?
I moved from the 2G TL before I had a single tranny failure. I got 40k miles on it before I traded for the 3G.

One on the right for me
My mom had a 2000/1 (cant remember exactly) TL and had no problems with it. After I bought mine she road around in it and loved it. If she didnt go for the prius I believe she would have continued owning a TL, though making the step into the 3rd gen pool.

Thanks for everyone's input. I should have known that everyone would say go for it!
I am looking at an 06 right now and the price is very close to that of an 05 with less than 14K. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again!
