Shift Mods

So I've been having random 3rd gear problems where it will grind or kick back. Every time i take it to acura, they can never duplicate the problem which means that there's nothing wrong with it. After reading threads after threads i decided to try out the GMC fiction modified tranny fluid which seems to work well for others. I always bought the CT shortshifter, Corsport bushings and cable bushings. I am also thinking about buying a skunk2 knob for a heavier handle. Do you guys recommend any other ones? Should i stay away from the new fluid? I have a 2007 TL-S by the way

Do the GMC syncgromesh fluid change. As far as shift knobs, there are a few custom one's out there. Search the forum to find them.

I had the same problems with my 07 TL-S. GMSFM fixed it and I've happy since doing it two months ago. I got a Voodoo Titanium shift knob and love it. It's countersunk so it screws on about an inch lower than the stock knob, plus it's heavier. It's kind of like getting a short throw shifter and knob all in one. I'm happy enough with it that I decided to abandon my plans for the CT short throw shifter.

Definitely do the things I bolded above. I have all of those done as well. As for shift knobs, the Maven Mark One is the best on the market.

I've got all of the above and each had noticeable improvement with the fluid being the most significant.

The only thing I can say about the skunk knob is it gets really cold in the winter and really hot in the summer. But I like it anyway.

I had the same problem when i first got mine, where the 3rd gear would pop out randomly and it's safe to say that we're not alone.

Anyway.. I took it to the dealer, got my 3rd gear set replaced. I guess it just depends on the dealership, but my guys accepted that these cars had the issue and hooked me up.

Still had the "notchiness" issue though, and I just converted to the GMSMFM fluid today and it def. does work wonders. Hopefully there are no long term consequences... :/

my dealer told me that if i were to switch over from a honda fluid, it will hurt me in the long run. If i ever have tranny issues, the GM will void the warranty. But since i have mentioned 3rd gear problems and its in the history, they will fix it with warranty or not.
