I currently have an '02 CL-S but the tranny dropped last night after only having the car for about 2 months so the dealership is either going to fix it or buy it back and then I pick up a different car. There is an '04 TL with the 5spd Auto sitting on their lot w/ 104k. Are there any issues with the transmissions in this year? Are there any other issues with this car that I should check into first? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

 

at 104K, make sure the timing belt service etc has been done to it. check car fax, and find out service history if possible.

yes there are known tranny issues with the 3G TLs. please seek thread...there is a really big one on here somewhere.

i have a MT, so i cannot speak on the AT owners perspective. otherwise the car is solid (yeah you might have a few rattles here and there), but its a honda...take care of it and it may just drive forever.

 

Long story short on the AT, is that most people do the following as quickly as they can...

Use Redline Racing ATF and replace your 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches.

And as the previous post said, check on the 105k service (timing belt, etc.).

 

If you dont want to worry about tranny issues, pick up an MT.
