shift knobs

i notice that the newer tl have a different shift knob with a trim of carbon fiber (atleast i think it is) in the middle for automatic. I was wondering would it fit 04-05 models and where can i find this part? i search acuraoemparts but it only has the wood one.

I just got this shift knob for my Type S. It's a Momo product. It looks great and I like it much more the stock Type S knob. The best thing is it's a universal shift knob.

Did you get the silver one or the carbon fiber?

are you looking to get rid of your stock TL-S knob?

Guys, Momo also has one with Carbon Fiber in it, but I opted for the one with the silver inset because it sets off the silver trim around the center console. I felt like the Carbon Fiber shift knob would only be recreating what originally came with the car. And the real reason I switched is because you couldn't really see the carbon fiber inset in the original shift knob. I'll take a picture of it and post later tonight.

It wasn't bad...I was nervous about doing it because I didn't want to break the stem. But you just turn your original shift knob counter clockwise. I got it on EBAY....just search for Momo shifters.

how does the momo shifter secure to the shaft...what are the spacer screws you refered too, are they the same as set screws that just tighten into the shaft...is the knob itself larger than the oem one....

Carbon Fiber Shift Knob

I believe I saw this in an old thread. I'm sure someone else gave me the idea.

Guys, the spacer/set screws are 3 screws that you must tighten while you position the knob evenly in the center of the stem. So if you tighen one screw too tight, the other ones will not screw in properly. I guess you could call them set screws...you just need to make sure all 3 screws evenly tighten against the shaft. The Momo knob is larger than the original, but I think it looks better. Plus, when the shifter is in the park mode, you can still easily get into both storage compartments in front of the shifter.

is the shift knob the same in the 07 type S as the 08 type S?

ebay does have them but for the same price you can order it directly from acura. i rather have the piece of mind knowing if something goes wrong i can always send it back where as ebay is always hit or miss. i just want to make sure they are the same so im talking about the same one, i want the type s shift knob with the carbon fiber in the middle

Yep the shift knob your talking about is the Type-S shift knob. I was at the Acura dealership talking to my buddy who's a sales rep at the one down here where I live about the new TSX that's coming out turbo'ed and he asked me I wanted to take the Type-S for a test drive and I said sure. I noticed the carbon fiber shift knob right away. When I got back from the test drive I called Tim from Ray Laks Acura in NY and order the shit knob for about $80 shipped I believe. Tim's also the guy I order my Aspec Lip kit from for $750 shipped when there was a groupbuy awhile back.
