Exclamation Running to lean?!

i have an 08 tl, w

-AEM cai
-J shift j pipe w/ cat
- greddy evo II full cat

took it to get dyno'd and the car is running really really really fucking lean. theres too much air flow for my ecu to handle because the mapping for the ecu doesnt recongnize all the shit i have botled on. So i basically need to get it tunes but there isnt anything made for an 08 TL!. Ik im not the first to have all these bolt ons. can anyone shed some light on this ???

Post up your A/F chart and your dyno plot/rpm's.

What were your A/F ratios at WOT?

Did you pull the battery? If not, that will be a reason why your system is running lean.

the black is the AFR ration the ratio, as you can see at about 5,500 it hiccups and the AFR fucks up all my WHP. shit blows.

Is that Auto or MT? on an MT with the bolt-ons you have 259whp and 221tq is about right, with an AT that is great. I know a TL-S MT guy with close to what you have put down 269whp and 243tq on a dynojet, so for you to get 290 on a non-S TL you would have to go SC my friend.

Type -S or base, MT or AT???? Did you get the race/test pipe and delete the 3rd cat? Did you move the IAT sensor when you did the CAI install?

If you have test pipes:
It might be the 02 sensor being covered with fuel thats causing the car to lean out, or a faulty 02 sensor.

If you have/haven't moved the sensor:
1. If you moved the sensor, put it back to the factory position.

its an 08 AT base TL, and if i got it tune properly it would be at around 260 whp

the precat 02's are probably reading that the mix is to rich, did you get a CEL after installing them? Did you trick them by using the extended bungs?

It's kinda hard to read that graph. What are your A/F ratios by RPM?

well.. an 08 TL Base 5AT... should probably be making.... around....245-250whp (depending on the dyno)

something is very wrong with that dyno.. did they turn off your VSA when they dyno'ed it?? Was this done in 3rd gear with steptronic? why did it flutter??

looks like at 4800RPM (VTEC engagement point) the A/F dropped to 7 !!!!!!! check vtec, check the solenoid.... i dunno... something aint right..

the TL should have a nice smooth upwards curve, with a slight spike at 4800-5100RPM.... and should never really go below 11-12 A/F ratio

How is A/F being measured exactly? I've seen a number of older cars "retuned" to run richer, only to find that the exhaust system had leaks that caused the lean reading, and now the car is super-rich and runs like ass.

this is with richiev6's pre cat deletes and j pipe. my car hiccups in third gear, at around 5,500 rpms and liek it pins and doesnt wanna go past it... and then like finally it goes over it but this shouldnt be happening. but my AFR is off the charts its a fuckin shit show. there is no leaks in my exhaust its not even 5 months old yet. to tell u the truth everything was ok before the richie v6 installs. but i got noticeable gains off the parts. but now i cant open it up, im scared of blowin the pistons lol

how was the shop reading A/F ratios? You said that the bung was closed, did you put the 02 sensor there or did you leave it hanging?

did they pull the car in 3rd gear?? I have pulled my 5AT in 4th gear before (yields higher tq numbers) but at around 5k RPM, the car bugged out, stop pushing, and did a similar "hiccup"

didnt read what everyone wrote but if you have cats, and they stuck a hanger looking thing in your exhaust (IT AINT ACCURATE)

accurate AIR FUEL RATIO can only be attained from a bung at the jpipe

edit I read now, you would need the air fuel ratio hanger looking wire whachamacallit to be shoved down the entire catback to have an accurate reading

DING DING DING

racinghart03 has an air fuel ratio gauge handy and his car NEVER NEVER flipped or flopped even on 75shot of nitrous... on or off the bottle

his setup is full r-v6 and comptech catback, big bore throttle body and injen intake... stock sized pulley, sooo the question is are you graphs correct? (wire in the tailpipe)

I would make sure they reset your ECU everyone that doesn't gets issues but its usually only a CEL. I would make sure they didnt installed the defoulers on the top O2 sensors and only on the lower ones.
Like this

Dynoing automatics can be tricky I would take it some where else. If your car was really running lean your wideband O2 sensors would throw a code. These ECUs are very advance unless you are boosting it they will pretty much self correct for any bolt on.

Agreed. A/F readings need to be taken from AFS1 B1 and B2. In other words pre catalyst. Only way to do that is to read off the CanOB2. Or have no cats and a second third Dedicated A/F sensor in the J pipe.
