RPM at 60mph

What RPM are you turning at 60mph with both the AT & MT?

6MT doing math or using C&D data...works out to about 2075

5MT doing math I get 1745

Theoretical top speeds (down hill and/or tail wind) 197 MT and 234 AT at 6800 rpm redline. Hang on tight!

At 60 mph in my 5AT, I get a bit less than 2k rpms. At my cruising speed of 80 mph, it's about 2250 rpm.

I also get less than 2K at 65.

This is ridiculous. The engine is marginally above idle. This is not good for the engine/tranny. I normally have to switch to SS and keep the car in 4th at this speed. You have to get well above 80 to keep the car in the 3K-4K range while in 5th.

How do you know this is true for the TL's 3.2?

It's certainly true that there are engines out there not designed to operate at this low an RPM (the Ford 2.5L Duratech, for instance), but I suspect that Honda (who has a lot of $$ at stake if they mess this up) had their engineers design the oil and cooling systems and everything else with these operating ranges in mind.

if it's not gd, y they do that in the 1st place???

they make low rpm on hwy for an easy, relaxed criusing and mostly becoz of fuel economy~

i don't find a problem with that coz the TL has more than enough torque even at 5th
