Rpm

I noticed something today. When I parked my car I wanted to see how far the RPM will go and it only goes upto 5000 RPM. Does any body notice this? Does anybody have the same symptom?
Thanks

Revving on empty load is bad for the engine. It's a safety feature. I wouldn't recommend testing it out on a regular basis.

So you just sat there and reved the crap out of your engine?? Not a good thing to do. If you want to see how far it'll rev, get to a freeway onramp and floor it watch when it shifts. Reving an engine that isn't under load is a recipe for disaster.

Yah, not the brightest thing to do. If you dont want to speed just cruise on the highway in second gear. That should bring you to 63mph, and to around Redline.

and engine is designed to work against resistance. This would be like, say pedaling really hard and then having the chain snap. The thing can accelerate to hard, it can spin out of control. Way to much force is being applied when there is the detonation above the cylinder. It is programmed to add the amount of fuel to push a car. There are a multitiude of thing I am not aware of in addition.
