Rotor and brakes

I am looking to get some new rotors and breaks for my acura tl 3008 type s. I found some rotors I liked attached is a link below.
http://brakeperformance.com/brake-ro...rs.php?did=152

I dont drive much and average probably 6 thousand miles on the car a year. I am looking to purchase something more or less for looks. I like how these are drilled and slotted and offer the painted center hub. I hate how my oem ones are rusted. I am considering the first ones on the page. Any thoughts on why this would be a good or bad buy?

ALso any thoughts on pads. I was thinking oem or something of the same quality or maby better. All i want is less or same amount of brake dust and better to same quality. I do not want to downgrade.

OEM/Brembo pads are about the best you can get. Anything else will be a downgrade for a street pad, but with less dust. They cost about $160 for the fronts.

Your OEM rotors were fully painted (silver) as well. Why do you think these black ones will fare any better? If your getting that much rust over 6k miles a year in your area, I would expect the same from any other rotor.

Slots & dimples are just for looks. You are paying a LOT more for the look. You can get Centric premium rotors for a lot less and they still have the black e-coating on them.

Check out brake pads and rotors by Brakemotive in the sponsored sales section. He is a vendor here and has a deal going on drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads.

I went with brembo slotted rotors with stop-tech pads and it stops very well and a lot less brake dust.

I just replaced mine with rotorpros.com. All 4 rotors just slotted and ceramic pads all the way around shipped for $220.00. I have used them on my 94 Impala SS, 2001& 2000 Ford f350 dually with no problems for the past 5~6 years.

If I was not going to go with OEM/Brembo, I would try either the Stoptech compound, or the Centric OEM compound. Price is around half that of the Brembo pads. Stoptech compound will have way less dust. I run stoptechs on my Civic and they are very nice. Not dusty or noisy compared to the Axxis Ultimates on the back or the Brembos on my TL. Plus their temp range is crazy high (1200*f) if that's important to you.

Centric Stoptech: 309.10010

Centric OE Formula: 100.10010 (sounds exactly like the Brembo compound)

I would also just buy Centric's premium or Power-Alloy blank rotors. Both have black e-coat, but power alloy have curved inner vanes and a stronger alloy. True performance without the crazy "slotted dimpled" price.

They are still using rotors in the year 3008? Good to see the TL has been kept for a thousand years, what Gen is it now?

would you suggest going with the slotted rotors with the zinc coating or just something basic and then powdercoat each rotor to make it look like the zinc. What do you think will look better nad hold of rust for the longest period of time.

I am also looking for new rotors and will probably pull the trigger at brakeperformance.com. I'm leaning towards the slotted rotors. The cross drilled is more likely to crack. The dimpled/slotted is worth a look too.

I have Rotora slotted on my car and the black wore off and after a year I am tossing them out from too much rust and buildup. The nice things about brakeperformance.com is that the rotors are zinc. According to my mechanic, he said this should help prevent rusting.

Your engine bay is full of zinc coated nuts & bolts. You may notice, those have corroded as well.

We offer a package for Acurazine members that includes drilled/slotted rotors and STOPTECH Performance pads.

http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-338784.aspx

These Acurazine brake packages are designed to improve braking performance and durability at a reasonable price. The packages include Powerslot/STOPTECH performance rotors and STOPTECH Performance pads. All of the rotors have a black e-coating on the hubs and vanes and an advanced alloy composition. The Powerslot slotted rotors for the front of most Acuras also have a Power Alloy composition and a curved vane construction, which helps reduce heat in the brake system. The STOPTECH Performance pads are a para-aramid compound, which has great initial bite and long-term performance and lower dust and noise than most aftermarket brake pads.
