Roof spoiler stolen, time for shock sensor

Last night my SSM colored roof spoiler was stolen off my car from my condominium parking lot. It's the first time something has been stolen off my car and I'm pissed to say the least. I have a camera on my car from my unit and got caught slipping last night, feel asleep and didn't turn my camera on. Out of all nights for this to happen. I'll be looking for it on Craigslist as well as the parking lots of the 2 local colleges, both of which have automotive programs. The part has my name on it and i have the paper work to match the number on it. Now my next project will be installing a shock sensor to try and prevent any future theft or damages. Until that's done I won't be installing anything else on my car. Now I'm surprised I didn't have an issue with my roof rack, glad I removed it for the season.

I also feel your pain. I had mine taken earlier this year, but I didn't replace it. It's a 4th degree crime in NJ, so even if the jackasses get caught, there's really no punishment for it. They might have to go before a judge, but would get a minimal punishment. For me, it just became easier not to have my car be an 'attractive nuisance'. Shock sensors aren't a bad idea, but then you're putting more money into a car to protect something that's relatively inexpensive.

I've said it before...we can't have nice things sometimes.

Sorry to hear about it. My car is garaged 98% of the time because I'm paranoid about the same thing. It's an epidemic up here in northern NJ.

Are there any shock sensors that are directly compatible with the OEM system? Most of the ones I see online are module to be used with aftermarket systems. Unless you guys are referring to the portable battery operated type. Which you wont hear inside the car. Unless you guys are mounting those under the hood. That would require you to go under the hood every time to disarm it?

It would be nice to have something compatible with the OEM system and arms and disarms automatically. I know some people have added auto start with the OEM remote. It must be possible.

Is this what you're referring to? I believe it works with the OEM horn and alarm system.

I just went out for lunch and noticed 3 of my window visors were messed with also. I didn't see this earlier as I was consumed with anger over the roof spoiler. They couldn't pry them off because I installed them with the clips. I'm glad the damage is repairable. The thief/thieves didn't wear gloves and left finger prints all over my visors. I'm not sure if the police can do something with that but I'm going to the police station to find out. I will be ordering the shock and tilt sensor this week for sure. I don't want to take anymore chances...

^police won't care. they won't waste their time on that.

just get those alarm sensors and/or car cover/park somewhere else, etc. do whatever you can to protect yourself.
