Right side mirror freaked out

Had the side mirror switched to right and put it in reverse. The mirror dutifully repositioned itself downward. I then put it in drive and as the mirror went back to it's preset position, but then, for some reason kept trying to go further than the maximum allowed which caused a continuous clicking as it hit the stop (maximum right position). I parked and put the switch in 'neutral' which stopped the clicking.

Tried using the memory button to put the mirror back in the favored position but no go (think I have the 'lost memory' problem). Repositioned it manually and haven't experienced this problem again.

Anyone else encounter this one?

There could have been some dirt, etc. jamming the gear.

Maybe it was "winking" at you?

it happened to me once too,
but I don't remember what I wa doing,
I do remember playing with the mirror switch while I was moving back and forth... but my TL is a 6sp so it may not apply.

As long as my TL doesn't start looking like a Gremlin (of the AMC variety), I'll be happy.
