Rev limiter in sport mode?

Hey guys, so I've been trying to figure out if the 3G TL's have a rev limiter while in 5th gear sport mode? My 08 TL will not rev past 2500 rpms no matter how hard the accelerator is being pressed. My 5th gear while in normal drive mode is fine though. I looked in the manual and couldn't find anything but I might be blind lol. Thanks in advance for any input!

2500 RPM is stall speed for the tq converter and unless you are going 80+ MPH it's not going to be going above 2.5K RPMS in 5th gear.

I got her to 90 mph last night and still wouldn't go above 2500 rpms. I'm just going to assume I wasn't going fast enough and that there's nothing wrong with my car haha

5th gear won't pull as far as I know so maybe that's why it won't pass that RPM. You can reach top speed in 4th as that gear is a long gear. I've done it before on a dyno where I went all the way to 160mph in 4th.(Used Hondata to raise rev limiter). Also the ECU won't let me shift into 5th in Sports Shift under WOT at RPM that high. When I let off the gas and the rpm dropped below 3K it allowed me to shift into 5th.

Here's a video of it from my Instagram:

Here's a video of it from my Instagram:
Noticed your temp needle sits lower than mine. Mines is a bit higher but still lower than half way. Normal? Also how do you remove the speed limiter? Mines is limited to 130mph.

Normal for me I guess. It sits lower than everyone else apparently since I've been told that many times but I have the ScanGuage 2 connected all the time and my Temps are normally 180-190F normal driving or 190-202F sitting in traffic. Sticks around 198-204F after some WOT. It has been like that since I bought my car and the thermostat is fairly new. The only time I see it near half or above is when temps go as high as 225 or above (happened when my radiator had a leak) so I don't know what else to say on that matter.

In this video you will see on the Scan Gauge 2 shows temps at 197 degrees (Bottom right numbers) under WOT and needle sits where it normally sits:

Also you need Hondata FlashPro to increase the Speed Limiter.

I'm just confused because my car shifts into 5th when it's in drive but I cannot get it to shift to 5th when in sport mode. As long as nothing is wrong with my car I don't really care as I don't go too much 85 tops in my car

She's got 83k miles. Tranny fluid changed at 53k miles. I haven't changed the pressure switches and highly doubt the previous owner switched them since I bought the car with 58k. She shifts smooth in normal drive and sport all the way up to 5th. Then she won't rev past 2.5k rpms

1. Check your fluid level. The question still wasn't answered. You just stated it was 'changed' 30k miles ago, what's the level?
2. You're up for another fluid change. it's been 30K miles. 3x3 ATF DW 1
3. Change your pressure switches

I'll have to check the level in a little bit. Can't remember what it was last time I checked but I know it wasn't low. I was going to do a tranny fluid change soon anyways so I guess I'll just hop on it a little quicker. Thanks for the advice man. Hopefully draining and filling fixes the issue

You should follow what was mentioned by thoiboi as it's better to know that you did the maintenance rather than guessing if the previous owner did it or not. Plus it gives you additional piece of mind. Also don't sleep on changing those pressure switches. After reading multiple threads it is recommended to change them at least 50K intervals. I just recently changed mines (above video posted) at 70K and it got rid of my 3rd Gear lockout in Sport Shift at WOT. Furthermore maybe switch to Redline or AMSOIL for your tranny fluid, you're car will be happy once you do as recommended. I change my tranny fluid once a year or every 15K miles.
