OK so I'm debating between the amber 16 led with 8 front 8 side from autolumination and a 24 amber led with 18 front 6 side from Vled for the front turn signal. I'm also considering leds for the rear lights as well - stop, turn, and tail lights..

Anybody try the 24 leds from Vled? Technically they should be brighter than that 16 led... Also, has anybody put in leds for the rear lights? pics? opinions? thanks. Pics above really helped.

Bringing an old thread back to life...

Looks like for me it will be the autolumination light towers with the resistors for the fronts.

Anyone replace the rear bulbs? This is the last of bulbs to be replaced with LED's... Which LED's?

It means Leedogg did a search!! unlike some of these people around here

Good thread to bring back to life.... I am wondering if it is still worth doing the LEDs or just going with the 7440 sized PIAA bulbs... SO how about any of you guys with the LEDs - are you having any issues with the resistors now that they have been used for while??

I believe these bulbs are the best ones. They only come in 1157 though and fit the2nd gen TL. There a bit pricey too.

Leedog, ililililli - Your brake and tail lights are already LED's stock. They really get no better.

The rear turn signals are the only ones in question in my mind...

Not sure if they are the same or not as autoilluminations.

The problem with these LED's is that they are a bit more expensive, but i took a chance.

The ebay link above doesn't work anymore.
I search ebay with "LED resistors" and found this one:

Is this the right one?

waacow,
Those will work just fine. Looks like a good price too. Just make sure you mount them away from any plastic. They get really hot. Take your time and do it right the first time

Would you look at these babies!

Thanks Type-S They DO make them in the 7443 style BTW. I can't believe how far they have come in less than a year. I really can't justify another $50 bucks in fricking LED's! I think I'll just wait another six months until they come out with a better version. Then again, If I wait a year...... they'll be even better!

Thanks KBOM..

i'm tempting to get those switchback 7443 blub and looks like autolumination also sell those resistors for about the same price as ebay one. total cost to use switchback will $25 (led) + $7 (resistor) X 2 =$64 total plus ~$4 shipping.

Anyone know if the switchback LED will fit in our housing? also is the white 20 LED bright enough? I am a bit worry that it might not be bright enough for the running light.

Those D-cell flashing brake light led seems interesting as well. Do we also use 7443 for TL break blub?

Yes I can attest to that as well as I mentioned in another thread. It's diameter is just too big. I don't wanna givce up though. I plan on doing a project in the spring to clear the headlights. It will be a good opportunity to try dremelling and modifying the openings to make the switchbacks fit. Has anyone had any luck with a switchback 7443 install?

I have the same bad luck with the tail-lights. After some research, I found some AWESOME bright tower 7440s but they too are too wide for the openings. Dremel will hopefully do the job here too. I have to find a way to keep the bulbs firmly tabed in place. Wish me luck.

It looks like a standard 194 bulb except the bulb and socket are larger.

Look at the first page of this post. You'll find pictures of the 7443 bulbs on post #19.

I was hoping the switchback could fit. ugh, hopefully, they will come out with smaller version...

they have "The wedg Matrix II" 7443 with 32 LEDs (12 forward and 20 side)
3/4" diam x 1-3/4" overall height. no switchback action though. has anyone tried those? should fit, right?

(switchback: 1" diam x 2-5/15" overall hieght)
