Replace outside driver key hole with blank like passenger?

Need some help here,

I can remember if this was something I seen on this site about the TL or back when I had my 04 accord on another site....

I remember though reading something about changing the driver side to match the passenger so you no longer see the keyhole.

Anyone done or attempted this yet?

Absolutely, one of the first mods (after tint) that I've done... subtle, cheap... and just cool. You can get them from any Acura dealer, they come pre-painted... just have your paint code and explain you need the rear drivers side door cover.

I got mine from this dealer on eBay for $12.00 shipped:
http://stores.ebay.com/Acura-of-Esco...eNameZl2QQtZkm

They are great there, fast shiping. I have also purchased oil filters and a comptech rear sway bar (on it's way) from them as well, all good.

Hope that helps....

Yes, it has been done before. I don't know if anyone has pictures, but just look at the passenger side through a mirror

How will you get into your car when the battery dies?
Despite the fact that the dealer replaced my battery I still have the flatline problem. When the battery died the only way to get into the car was to use the key.

I thought about that... but it is SO easy to pop off... the key may be too fat to get in there, but a moderately stiff ink pen would be enough to pry the latch up and remove the cover.

Here are a few pics... for some reason this mod makes me happy... maybe because it's only 8 bucks... but it's just cool...

These are just quick shots in my garage... gives you an idea what it looks like though

I tried to look on eBay but he didnt have any listed? Did you just contact him to inq about them? I would just fork it out and go to dealer but my dealer is 25+ miles away and thats not worth it for a $8-13 part...

Yes... I just shot him an email (through ebay of course)... since I had done business with him recently he remembered me, etc..... Same situation here too... pain to drive to the dealer, then wait, pay tax, yada yada. Plus, I love ebay!

If you valet your car (something I don't recommend) you have to give them your remote. If the battery dies or the remote stops working, you can easily remove the piece (less than 20 seconds) and use the key.

Thanks cTLgo! My neighbor was ribbing me last night when I was installing my spoiler that if I polish it too much the paint will come off.... he's just jealous!

It is such a challenge to keep it clean though, I live in a developing subdivision, so plenty of dust, dirt... along with a nice dose of pollen around here. But I'm not complaining, more reason to wash the car (which I enjoy).

I use Zymol Carbon and that new(ish) Mr Clean spotless car wash deal. Filters the water, spot free dry, etc etc. I have to say I've been impressed; it works well.

Absolutely... will always be one of my favorite mods. The A-Spec suspension and RSB may take #1 if I have the reaction that many on here have.

I wasn't going to do this mod because I didn't want to loose the feature of closing all the windows and sunroof (and opening) using the key in the drivers side door. But once I found out how to get around this I did this delete key hole immediately. Now I can close all the windows and sunroof from my factory key fob (and open).

Sorry for the hijack, but I see you use that Mr. Clean thing...is it really all the ads claim? Seems like there has to be a catch...

And yeah, the suspension will replace the door handle mod.

Yea, how did you use the remote to close all windows/sunroof. From what I understand that the remote can only open all windows/sunroof by pressing on the 'unlock' button twice and holding it. How do you get the remote to close all windows/sunroof?

NP at all.. I actually got it for xmas and didn't use it till I got my TL about 2 months ago... and it does actually work very well. I have never dried my car with anything... just let it dry and have not seen one spot. But I will tell you what the catch is: It's the razor and blades paradigm: The razor they practically give you with 1 or 2 refils... then they "GIVE" it to you on the blades. Same with this... the soap and the filters are not too cheap. You get pretty much 4 washes out of a soap bottle and maybe 5 (though they claim 10) out of a filter. Naturally you do have to use their soap, it has 'stuff' in it that aids in the spot-free rinse. Likewise, you have to use the filtered water on the final rinse. That's where the catch is. But... I really like the idea of not drying my car with anything, less chance for scratches, etc...

Thought for a minute that Mr. Clean and Jet Dry were both owned by P&G, but they're not. However, P&G does have their own variant of Jet Dry. I wonder if you could use regular soap and add Jet Dry (or similar)...be interesting to see...I'll have to check one of these things out one of these days (washing the car tonight, actually). Thanks for the info.

Yeah that's it!
I've had this mod done for a while now with no flaws whatsoever. It's become very handy with all this nice weather.
