I was thinking about removing mine bc im not a big fan of it and just wondered if anyone has done so, and if they did, how hard was it and how they did it. Any input would be awsome. Thanks

If its the tape applied its not too hard .

Pick the leading edge loose and warm the tape some with a hair dryer and slowly pull at a radical angle ( way more than 90 Deg. ). If the tape tears then use less heat. No more hat that your fingers are comfy with.

You may have some residual adhesive left. Use Goo-Gone on a very soft cloth and let it do its job .. don't go rubbing too hard.

Then rewax.

Stay away from adkesive removers like 3M stuff its full of Xylene and not too paint friendly.
Same with nail polish remover etc.

If they are painted on then its a new ball game and Ihaven't dealt with them.

if there is a line some rubbing compound should do the trick with a nice clean wax to follow; maybe even a meguires 1-2-3

Painted: wet sand w/ 2000 or 2500, be very careful or have someone that's skilled in this area do it, panel edges can be tricky. You will have to feather the surrounding area so the surface peel blends in, so you don't have a flat line down the side of the car. Buff/polish/wax. Do not remove any extra clear than needed, Honda/Acura doesn't apply much.

Adhesive decal: I would remove w/ an eraser wheel, wipe w/ wax/degreaser solvent, buff/polish/wax.

My car has been setting in the sun all day so i went out there and starting peeling them off, came off like butter, easy as pie, each section came off w/o breaking and no goo or anything was left. Looks much better now. Thanks guys. Up next Ron Jon kit hopefully......

WOW, I have never actually heard somebody reccommend this, and I gotta say I think that's a horrible way to approach it. I am going to now disclose a trade secret as I used to own a detail shop. If they are painted on and you wet sand them off you will also be wet-sanding the area around the stripes and cause your paint to wear thin. Also not to mention you would then need to do a pretty heavy cut with several stages of compound and polish to bring it back to life. Not for the novice detailer . If I were to tell someone how to remove painted stripes it would be to tape of with masking tape on the top and bottom of the stripes the length of the car. Make sure the car is in the shade and cool to the touch. Then get some Easy-Off oven cleaner and spray one 3 foot section at a time let sit for a minute or 2. Use a terrycloth towel and rub the wet area pretty firmly. Re-apply and repeat as necessary. This method will not dull nearly as much as the wet-sanding method and is much easier to bring back with just a polish and wax....

If the wet sanding/finessing is done correctly, the amount of removed material will be very, very minimal. Very fine grit is easily controllable. The clear will not "wear thin" if maintained and the work is preformed correctly. I've done it a few times on my own cars without any problems what so ever and great end results. Its not the best advice for the novice, that's why I recommended someone skilled.

I too have performed the wet sanding manuever - yet have never heard of the "Easy-Off" method. I asume the oven cleaner acts as a mild paint remover?

Thanks for sharing!!

Gotcha! I didn't mean to sound rude, just trying to give the best advice possible!

Easy Off is often the method of choice for removing painted on truck lettering

so I've read all of these threads and people recommended that a easy wax will get rid of the ghost stripes and then I see that others say that you have to use a light wet sand to get them off?? Hell, I think one post say wait and it will fade in over time ... has any one actually had ghost stripes and just waxed the lines to remove the fade?

Also, I bought the car and the owner had the back quarter panel repainted up to the pin stripe and blended in. When I removed the Pin stripe they painted over a millimeter of the pinstrip and now I have a defined line of paint about 3 feet long!!!!! is this able to be fixed with out repainting the whole side of the car?

There is no way to 100% fix a partial panel spot repair back to OEM appearance without repainting the entire panel. You can minimize the line by lightly wet sanding it and buffing. Have someone familiar with finessing auto paint do it for the best results.
