Removing LCA Ball Joint trick

Does the socket wedging trick will work to remove the ballpoint from the LCA?

6 pound hammer , smack the spindle at the ball joint , it will come out .
do not strike the ball joint itself .

My "method" consisted of a 4lb. sledge for about 30 minutes. My triceps were mighty sore the next day.

I wedge a craftsman wrench's handle in between the knuckle and the LCA while it's supported on a hydraulic jack with the space there. Then I drop the jack fast, and KICK DOWN on the rotor's top edge HARD, WITH YOUR FOOT. Pop it goes. It actually works, and no damage to the ball joint.
