reflective tint

Morning,

I did a few searches, but did not find anything, sorry.

I have 06 black on black 6MT /w NAVI.

I believe the stock tint is .06.
I stopped by at local shop to see what they offer.
I want to go with .45 which would drop me to .39, yes?
I want to stay legal as the cops around here are not friendly.
Therefore I wanted to see what you guys though.
They have the regual black tint and also the reflective tint that is aluminum based that looks somewhat gray on the board. It has been recommended by the owner of the shop that I should get the "gray" as he guaranteed it will look amazing. Anyone else out there with that tint?
I don't want to drop $150 on crappy/something I don't like.

I also couldn't find any pictures anywhere.

Thanks,
pawel

You talking like mirror tint? That's not really my cup of tea. I just say go with 'regular' tint.

The guy has the sample on the wall, it looks like it's gray however he recommened it over the standard black stating that it will look a lot better on my car and won't look gray at all. It will give off a slight mirror look.
He told me he just did a BMW (also black on black) with this tint and it looks a lot better than the black.
Anyone out there have anything like that?

I was told with the Navi that you need to use non metalic tint or it may effect the Navi reciever on the back dash. I would stay away from refelective tint.

Reflective tint is not legal in most places.

And you can't add and subract tint values. They multiply AND you have to count the absorbtion of the OE window glass.

Look here to see the rules on MA reflective tint:

Odd, I remember hearing something about this...I remember way back when, when we first got our Pathfinder, we had people asking about the tint job on the back rear windows...they were reflective! they came from the factory..."reflective"

So I am assuming this tint does NOT look CHROME like a 1-way mirror right? If so DON'T do this type of tint. Back in the 90s there was a craze with chrome tint or partial faded chrome tint (illegal in probably every state) that is literally like a mirror. It reflects and produces a LOT of glare. Not to mention it looks SUPER cheesy!

Broadly speaking when people say "reflective tint" they could mean chrome tint or mean to say metallic tint. There is a difference so you have to ask what he is talking about. Modern metallic tint is legal as long as you keep the light transmission within the law. I have it on my car. But be forewarned it WILL affect your radio/nav to some degree.

I am going to give him a ring and see if he could maybe call me when he's doing a black car with that tint so I can really see what it would look like. The tint is legal in mass, I guess it has a hint of reflection, but it not reflective. I'm going to try and find out more about it. I was going to go with the black but he highly recommended the other.
I definitely want some tint, even though it has the factory, it seems like there is nothing there at certain angles...
