The Group 24F was at the bottom of the shelf, and there were very few of them. Anyways, the Group 35 battery was $73.99, and the Group 24F battery was $78.99. Add to that price the tax, and a $9 refundable core deposit.

One thing to note: the OEM Acura battery vent caps are recessed into the battery, while the Kirkland Group 24F vent caps are not, and protrude out at the top of the battery. It did not affect the installation, everything still fit, but the bracket to hold the battery now clamps down on those vent caps, instead of clamping down at the edge of the battery as on the OEM Acura battery. Not a big deal, everything fit, the battery cover still fit, no problem.

Didn't bother with any sort of memory saver while the battery was disconnected, so I had to enter the NAVI and radio code afterwards. No big deal, just enter the NAVI code and it reboots. Enter the radio code, and we are done! The only thing that I lost was the "A" and "B" trip odometer, and the average mileage setting. Everything else remained...Driver 1 and Driver 2 memory settings, HFL, etc.

Overall, simple to do, no problem!
I just called my local Costco, and said that they dont carry 24F batteries for 06 and older models. But 07-08 they do have.

So over the course of 6mos Costco stopped offering 24F batteries. All they have is 24-(11) which is not compatible in their system with my model TL. They do have 35 which the rep told me to try and if it didnt work than to return it.

--
If anyone else can shed light on a recent Costco Battery purchase, they told me it would come out to ~$100.

I really just want a new battery soon, I am running a Bosh Platinum battery thats nearly 5 years old(carfax reported by autozone) from previous owner. But there have been times where I have disconnected the battery, turned it back on and when I would drive the car would kind of have a surge affect since idle was rough and not smooth either driving or turning on.

Also left my phone charging for about an hour on ACC 1 and my battery was dead, i forgot to turn on the car. I think its time for a new battery.

I will give props to Autocraft Gold (Advance Auto Parts)....

replaced the battery in the wifey's Lex and that battery has been just PERFECT....her car doesnt get driven much and stands for extended periods and it cranks up without a problem....

has a 3 year replacement and 7 year prorated (total 10 year) warrant....and the best thing, paid ~$70 out the door (with taxes) and installed

used the code 'BATX' at the website

DieHard Gold 50523 (South) 1... $120 ... 78 .......

DieHard 50424 1 ................... ...$95 ..... 67........

DieHard Gold 50624 (North) 1 ...$120 ... 67 ......

4 years ago, the 24F Yellow Everstart Maxx from Walmart was rated a best buy, now their 24F didn't even get tested. I had one that died after 3½ years. The Autocraft Gold from Advanced Auto Parts I have now works fine. And right now, they're offering $20 off your battery purchase:

My usual recommendation when it comes to batteries has always been to find whichever one has the largest reserve capacity and CCA's you can find that'll physically fit in your battery compartment.

That's a bummer if that is true. I seem to remember seeing 24-f batteries last time I was there.

The item number should be: 12865. You only need to trim a plastic support post on the battery cover and you have a great fitment for this battery. The TL hold down strap will put pressure on one of the fill caps which causes the cap to come open and dry a cell. I solved that problem by going to Home Depot and buying a metal plate that puts even pressure on both fill caps. The dry cell didn't happen until 2 years of ownership so it's not a huge issue even without the metal plate solution.

I'm on my second Costco battery after 7 years of ownership. I figure I weakened the first battery because of the dry cell issue.

I just checked the Carlsbad Costco and there are lots of batteries (item #12865) in stock. They certainly fit my 2006 just fine.

Autozone Duralast Gold are great batteries. And Autozone is great about replacing them if for some reason they die prematurely.

Unfortunately, when my battery died, only place close was a Walmart so I got the Champion battery. Hope I have the same good luck as I've had with Duralast.

In December, I had my battery fail out on me because of a bad cell. Replaced it with a battery from AAA with a 5 year warranty replacement on it. I think it was around $120 installed? Not a bad deal.

+1 on the Kirkland battery. Lasting longer here in Canada than the stocker!
Price is right too. Do you know lots of different manufacturers batteries are made by the same company, Johnson Controls, but with each companies label on them?

Johnson Controls and Enersys with Enersys being the better of the two usually.

The Diehard Platinum and one model of Odyssey battery are both made by Enersys. Both are identical except for the label. One is labeled a high performance battery for winches and big stereo systems while one gets the Diehard label. The Diehard is nearly $100 cheaper. It's a $300+ battery for about $226 out the door. There are only 2 major battery companies in the US, just about every battery out there comes from one of these two companies. Right about when Johnson got the Optima the quality went to crap so I stay away from them now.

Back in 2010 when I was still driving my old '94 Legend I took my battery to O'Rileys because it sometimes wouldn't start if it was a cold morning. Turned out that it was still the original battery that came with the car. It was the oldest operational battery anyone at the shop had ever seen!

Optima batteries are junk now. My red top lasted like a year and half and had nothing but problems with it.

My experience with Walmart batteries has been poor too.

Interstate and Costco is all I will buy now. In fact, I think the Kirkland batteries are the best battery for the money. And of course, Costco has the greatest return policy on planet earth.

Currently I'm running a Autocraft Gold series battery from Advance auto parts. It's only a couple years old but has been great. Plus, if you order online and use the discount codes that are out there, you can get a pretty good battery for like 70 bucks.

I recently bought a Interstate (Group 24F) from Costco in the States nearly 2 weeks ago. The batteries CCA is higher than most batteries I've seen (90% sure its 800 something, would have to double check), battery also comes with 3.5 years warranty. I paid 105 after tax and thats including the $15 fee they charge you until you bring in an old battery. All in all, this battery fits perfectly in the housing (for an 07/08 TL Base), and has higher capabilities than most I've seen. Makes a world of difference!

I just wanted to report an update to my last post on this very topic.

I went with a Costco Battery 'Kirkland Signature' bought in April of this year. It was a 35 ($94 w/core and tax) use group since they didn't have 23-24F for our cars at the time of purchase at the S Bay San Diego Costco.

My battery completely died earlier this week, could not hold a charge, nothing was left on, and it was tested 3 times after being jump started the battery was bad. Alternator and starter were working perfectly so it was narrowed to last item = battery.

Contacted Costco on return, they gave me full refund. I went to a different store which is the one in Oxnard and they only sell Interstate batteries.
From what they told me was Kirkland batteries were made by Interstate just different name. But Costco was selling both brands which I guess until this summer, Costco decided to stop selling kirkland batteries and just sell one which is Interstate. Any store who still has remaining kirkland ones are the last lot, and no more will be produced with the kirkland label

I thought interstate ones were bad brand, but time will tell how well this one will last, but luckily its still covered under the same 100 mos warranty as its kirkland one. And interstate had our use group for our model which is 23.

This is all the info. I got from the tire/service guy who sold me the battery, but I have no actual proof of this nationwide change or if these are any better than the competition.

I DO RECOMMEND a battery from Costco. I haven't had any issues so far and I got to hand it to Costco on their warranties. Came out to $107 w/tax. My

Costco batteries in all my Honda's: wife's 2003 S2000 kirkland, my 2008 TL kirkland, wife's 2008 MDX Costco Interstate.

Have had good luck with all of them so far to date, knock on wood.

My vette will most likely get a Costco one next year since I change batteries every 5 years typically.

FWIW, Consumer Reports rates both the Interstate and Everstart Maxx from Walmart as the 2 best in the 24F group. They rate the Walmart battery as a 'Best Buy'.

Google parasitic draw test and look at some videos on youtube or articles and you can pinpoint the issue. Most of the time it's the factory bluetooth module killing the battery (I've had mine unplugged for over a decade). I like the walmart batteries, cheap and easy to get and they have nationwide coverage if the battery goes flat. No need for AGM, regular is fine.
