I've never heard of Acura offering such a discount.

I know Honda offers it on the Civic (and Accord DX/LX), but doubtful on Acuras (other than possibly the RSX).

Acura doesn't even seem to have an official owner loyalty program.

I inquired when I bought mine, but there wasn't one (In July anyway). Also, to get those discounts, you often have to use a particular financing program that will often cost you more than the discount in the long run.

When I went to buy my TL last month, the only "program" they told me about didn't include any sort of discount. Basically, the college program they mentioned simply allows a recent college grad. to make up for a lack of credit by having a verifiable job offer.

So if you have a job offer, you can show them the letter the company sent to you, and you can get a much better rate than you could otherwise, assuming you don't have great credit yet. Of course, the rate isn't all that good if you have a decent credit history.

Let me tell you about all these types of discounts, even if they exist, which they often don't. YOU CAN DO BETTER ON YOUR OWN. For example, costcoauto.com will negotiate a $1000 discount on TLs. I just signed for about $2k below MSRP. Some even do better, depending on what you are looking for. Mine is more rare, so I was happy with $2k. Check out this thread and good luck.

To my knowledge, I've only seen crappy car brands do discount type of deals? I could be wrong.

Right. If you want a coupon, 0% financing, 0 down, no payments until 2009 and a free hand job in the dealership bathroom buy a Chevy, Kia, or some other piece of crap. lol

Eh, all the major car companies offer "Recent Graduate Financing." This includes Inifiniti and Honda/Acura...

Unfortunately, they say its only for people that have little to no credit. All the dealers told me that if you have decent credit, you'd probably be better off without it. Some other perks of it include no interest for up to 90 days and no payments for up to 60 days, according to Honda's website.

The Lexus College Graduate Program offers the following benefits [1]:

• No down payment on finance contracts
• No payment for 90 days (not available in PA)
• $750 rebate on all new Lexus vehicles [1]

I think u have up to 2 years to use it....

I'm not trying to pick on Lexus or anything, as this is typical of most manufacturers, but you'd have to be crazy to go by this alone.

You'd be insane if you didn't put any kind of down payment on a new Lexus, TL, et. al. Interest, and more importantly, your monthly payment, would eat you alive.

The no payment for 90 days isn't too bad, except you still pay that extra interest (probably doesn't amount to much, though).

$750 rebate is nice if you're a horrible negotiator. But it should be fairly easy to get at least $750 off of a new vehicle.

Of course, I'm a little biased. I'm a firm believer in the concept that if a dealer (or manufacturer) offers it without argument, then you can most likely do better with a little negotiation.

The college grad program is just a program to help people with a short credit history get approved for financing. You will need proof of college graduation or graduate withing 6months. Proof of employment or guaranteed employment after graduation. The APR% is usually higher. Acura doesn't offer any college grad discounts. Infiniti and Lexus do.
