Oh, derp. That's right, the control boxes act as the built in resistors. Forgot about that.

I have. All is working as it should!

Don't use the control box resistance, just pull the fuses on the units.

no, there is a turn signal in the jpipe....do reset your ECU and refill your blinker fluid when you do this mod....

I just got new front turn signal bulbs today, they have 10 cree chips on it, for a total of 50W. 2 front facing ones, and 8 on the side to really make use of the reflector. I dont think they will beat the triton v3 but it should come close, and be cheaper too. I wish I could do a side by side comparison with someone who has the tritons

My Gen 1 V3s have been acting up as well. The set on the passenger side has been acting up the last 2 weeks. Sometimes the white light doesn't come on, sometimes the orange light doesn't flash. I ordered a set of Gen 2s that VLEDs will replace my old set with.

Do you have the relay resistor mod done? Did you pull the fuses on the units?
I ask because I read earlier somewhere that the switchbacks won't work without the control box.
Also I have a 08 BASE TL.
Do I need to use the adapater collars for the front switchbacks? A few posts earlier someone mentioned the screws and gaskets needed but that poster owns a Type-S. He said you NEED a collar for the front turn signals but his socket size is 1157 whereas mine is 7443.
So pretty much I was wondering
What size gaskets do I need to use? They sent me 4 different sets. 2 of the sets are the same thickness and the other 2 are thicker. One set has a smaller outside diameter while the other has a larger outside diameter.
Do I need the metal adapter collar?
What size screw do I use for front 7443 the 3mm or 4mm ones?
How many screws do I need to use for each front turn signal for the 7443 socket? Is it 2 (1 on each side across from each other) or do I need 3 (in a shape of a diamond)

So I went ahead and installed them today. Just for future triton owners, here are some helpful notes on what you need and don't need to use. I have a 2008 base TL and this is what I used to install for my front 7440/7443 switchbacks.
I did NOT use the adapter collar. No need for that. Type-S guys or rear tails "might" need it. I wouldn't know because I don't have tritons in the rear.
Use the 3mm screws. You will need to use 2 per turn signal so all in all you will need a total of 4 for the front turn signals. You place the screws on the opposite ends of one another.
For the gaskets you will notice they will send you 8 total. 4 of them are THIN, the other 4 are THICK.
2 THIN small "o" gaskets.
2 THIN big "O" gaskets.
2 THICKER small "o" gaskets.
2 THICKER big "O" gaskets.
For my application of the front 7443 switchback signals I used 1 THICKER small "o" gasket for each turn signal. You will have 6 total gaskets left over that you will not need.
and lastly....
I previously did the flasher module relay resistor mod. I soldered a 0.24ohm resistor in place 1.5 to 2 years ago to run LED turn signals in the front and rear. Today when I installed the tritons I remembered member "AZP-TL" told me to remove the fuse out of the unit if I have the flasher module relay mod done.
On the instructions (Tritons come with picture instructions) it also says on the side
and
I did as instructed and removed the 5A fuse with a pair of pliers and installed one turn signal and tested it. It worked. Installed both sides and tested both and they are running perfect. No hyperflash or any problems. So if you have the 0.24 ohm resistor installed in your turn signal relay than you can still use it to your benefit. I was worried about my resistor conflicting with the control box resistor but now I have no worries.

To deactivate high circuit load resistor, simply remove 5A fuse from holder
Control box will get very hot when resistor is in the default active mode (fuse installed) in continuous run-time applications

Question for those that have the V3 Gen 2 switchbacks. I currently have the standard amber Gen 1 V3's in my front park lamps/turn signals. I am considering getting the 5k switchbacks gen2 as well because I think the high output white DRL would look awesome during the day, and I will deactivate the original halogen DRL's.
so my question is, is it easy to get the V3 switchbacks to use the bright mode as DRL's with all other lights off, then when you switch your headlights on they go to the lower brightness? So I guess I was just wondering is will the high brightness white lights go on with the headlight stalk to the off position? And if not how do you get them to go on to use as a DRL, then dim when the headlamps are on?
Thanks for any info.
James

I don't see these on VLEDS for 7443...

james if you watch "buda" video on his triton review, he shows you the white wire that comes standard with the triton switchback kit to tap into the ballast + wire. its really simple. His video is on YouTube. its a in depth video 20+ minutes long but tells you everything you need to know. I would link it to you but I'm on my phone and at work.

I Hope I understood your question right.

The easiest option would be to just wire the white LEDs to the main power terminal of the car so they would come on when you start it. Then all you would have to do is splice the white low brightness wire to the headlights.

for switchbacks, I dont think there is a low brightness option unless you changed the input voltage. and even so, there is a minimum required voltage before the LED shuts off, thats why led interior bulbs never fully dim like OEM incandescent bulbs do. LEDs semi dim halfway then shut off. the point at which this happens is around the same point when the forward voltage of the LEDs exceed the input voltage.
the low brightness option on regular bulbs is because the circuits inside are designed that way, to be dim even with the input 12v
