really cold

Have you run your AC and felt how cold it makes the aluminum trim?! are the ducts right under there or what?

Mine is the same. Noticed this weekend after it finally warmed up here enough to run the a/c. The aluminum practically gets frost on it. Great a/c system and a good thermal conductor I guess.

It was almost 80 today, I had my front windows open, and my AC cranked up and I was FREEZING. The A/C is awesome.

My girlfriend noticed this too. She thinks its a good feature that acura put in to keep drinks cold on hot summer days and to keep coffee warm during the winter.

I believe it could help a little bit in some extremely hot weather...

You guys are right on the money. I had to steadily increase the A/C temp from 66 to 72 in a 20 minute period because it got too darn cold despite almost 90 degree weather in Boston. One main reason this happens is because the Auto climate setting always sets the air to RECIRCULATE so the air just gets colder and colder without mixing in the hot outside air. Pretty smart if you ask me. That's what I used to do manually in my Camry to get the cabin to cool down quicker.

Thats great - Yea I love the AC in this car - The re-circulation feature cools the car down in 1/2 the time my old one did. All we need are cooling seats for the summer instead of the heated ones.

I noticed this same thing in my old TL on a road trip down to San Diego and Palm Springs. It was round 95 - 100 degrees outside, and I was surprised to pull my drink out of the holder and -- it was colder than the cabin air! Intentional or not, I think thats a great design. Well, until my ice cold drinks are being heated in the winter...

There are ducts that run along the center of the passenger compartment under the aluminum trim...those ducts are the ones that power the air flow for the rear seat passengers

Two months ago, didn't someone ever complain his 04TL was not cooling down the car as fast as his 2nd Gen. TL? And, he said the fan of 04TL was weaker than 2nd Gen. TL's, too.

He seemed to be the only one I have ever seen so far complaining of A/C. Or, maybe our A/C won't work well in the temperature range of 60-70??

Good memory, rets. I was thinking that same as you as I read that same comment not too long ago. Either that owner has resolved the issue or has not returned to see this post on the board.

I think that another benefit to this design is that you end up saving fuel by having the compressor run less in order to cool the car. It's amazing how a little forward thinking can lead to a win-win-win situation .
