Raced an RSX-S

So coming home last night the freeway was pretty empty and some guy with his g/f came up next to me along with a G35X. We were all evenly lined up, put it in SS 3rd and gave the 3 honks.

The RSX-S sounded insane with it's cold air intake, mine is much deeper with the J32, the G35 was silent, but falling way behind. I pulled away from the RSX before it was time to shift to 4th.

We went again, only this time the G35 didn't participate, and the results were the same. He had to get off at the same exit at me and we decided to go from a dig. Left it in D5 and power braked up to about 1500RPM with VSA off. We both launced very nicely with little wheel spin. I was surprised that he didn't just bake the tires off the line (good driver) and by the time I was in 3rd gear I had about 2 cars and just kept widening the gap.

I got to talk to him at the next light and he told me his mods. I/H/E and a reflash. I was surprised that I even beat him, let alone by that much. My TL-S only has a CAI, but I guess all that torque really puts a beating on the RSX. His g/f said she liked how shiny my car was and the OEM body kit really sets it off. Cool people, fun race.

Yeah, the RSX-S is only available in a 6spd manual.

I use to have an 05 RSX-S with Icebox and a reflash, but never had a chance to race a 2g TL-S =(

Yeah, they can rev to 8600 on a reflash. I thought he may have been in too high a gear on the freeway, but when the same thing happened from a standstill I figured "Ok, I'm faster"

The G35X was AWD so I'm sure that hurt it a little bit. It was also stock. He gave up after round 1. lol

Very nice race bro. Show him how the TL is DONE... with his mods, he should have been neck and neck with a good launch.. My cuz with the 07 SI has I/E/Reflash/coolant by-passmod and he keeps up with me REAL good, and he's a pretty good driver himself..

- I only have a AEM CAI. 06 a/t tl....

I'm about to run him in a bit to see if he's gotten any faster with that exhaust on.

Good run tho man..

Nice run. Im suprised you beat him with I/H/E Reflash. Those RSX-S's with those mods run high 13's with a good driver. I have seen some with those mods run mid 14's though. Probobly depends on who tuned the car.

It was an 02-04 model. The car sounded pretty good, clutch was strong cuz he chirped up to 3rd. Honestly I was just waiting for him to inch up and eventually pass me. He said he raced a TL like mine but he didn't think it was Type S because he won. Thats why he wanted to race me to see the difference.

Well either way I want Comptech Headers and possibly a test pipe. I also want to see how I do against a slightly modded 05-06 RSX-S. As you said they were quick. My friend had CAI/ DC race header, and 3inch catback tuned with Kpro and ran consistant 13.4- 13.5. This car was def not modded that much.

With I/H/E and kpro, the RSX-S runs high 13s...

My buddy just got his buddy club header installed, i'm gonna race him again haha He has an AEM V2 and HKS Hi-power as well. With those two, I pull about 3-4 cars on him from a dig. I doubt the header is gonna do much, but I could be wrong

I think a base 3G TL is faster than a Type-S 2g correct?

Just wondering, in the 2G, is your 4th gear extremely weak? I know in mine, i'm pretty much done at around 110-115mph (which is when 3rd gear ends) 4th takes a WHILE to get to enter the vtec stage.

if its a race header (catless) itll do wonderous for the RSX-S...

ive ran a few cai/raceheader/exhaust RSX-s with my reflashed + cai + exhaust + short header (retains cat)...i haven't managed to beat them

but let us know how it goes

and yes i beleive that 2g TL-S gears are similiar to the 3G TL....weak 4th gear

most 2g guys say its weak, ive found the perfect shift point and puts me around 4800-4900. if you can find the shift point right before it hits the limiter itll put u in that range.
