Is there any way to remove very fine scratches (spider web thin) from the moldings? Or is the material too soft? You can only see these scratches in direct sunlight. When there's shade they are impossible to see. I love my TL to death so even something as miniscule as this annoys me.

Use Meguiars ScratchX and a ver sort M/F towel .. take your time & be gentle .. rub in the same direction as the airflow. Not circular.

Regular waxes won't remove anything ... and ScratchX .. you can't get much milder ... I have even used Megs #80 with a PC on those ..

Will ScratchX discolor the moldings? I thought you can only use ScratchX on your car's body (e.g., no vinyl, rubber, etc.)?

It's the black window molding inside the red rectangles pictured below.

Will you be able to see the fine scratches when sunlight hits the area or will they go away?

i guess it depends on what product you use...do you have a polish on hand, if soo try that first and see if it works...then i would go the scratch x route...if that doesnt work, try meguires swirl remover...either way, i am sure you can get the results your looking for...i know i have in the past on different cars black trim...

Is the window trim (highlighted in the picture above) on our TL's high gloss or more of a satin finish? I spoke with a representative from Meguiar's and he told me that if it's more of a satin finish, ScratchX won't work. If it's a high gloss finish, ScratchX should work very well. The window trim looks pretty glossy to me. Sorry, I'm a noob when it comes to things like this. Thanks for the help guys!

I guess your not really getting what the others are saying. Wax won't hide pre-existing scratches. Yes it will make it shiny if the surface is good. But if there are scratches all you will end up with is shiny scratches.

Just use scratch x
