Quick Question

Im going to buy a second car. Either the 7 gen accord 6 speed or the 3rd gen TL.
Right now i can not see a good reason to choose the accord over the TL-6.
I do actually prefer 4 doors also.
The TL is only a couple hundred pounds heavier, has about 30 more HP and extra torque. Gets about the same MPG.
The TL also comes with LSD.
I will admit that i dont care much for the TL's front end much at all but really like it from the rear view and side.
I know this is the TL forum so some bias is to be expected but its starting to seem like a no brainer for the TL. The 6 speeds are more costly with either one when you find one.

Apples and oranges in my honest opinion.. You came to a 3G TL forum to ask this question. Most of us are proud 3G TL owners. A TL is a nicer Accord if you want to look at it that way. The way I see it you either get an accord or a TL. Plain as day. I personally don't like Accords nor were ever a fan of any of their looks/designs until the latest generation came out. That's just me though. The design of the 3G TL is endless and will continue to look good for years to come. As you said TL 6MT has LSD, there's probably a couple more technological features it has more than the Accord too.

3G TL > 7th Gen Accord any day for me.

The TL is probably going to be a lot more comfortable on those long trips. I'd think it will be far quieter inside than most Accords. That can really add up after hours on the highway.

I also agree with DementiaPhuro that it's a "nicer Accord". Vague but you know it when you see both.

And hell yeah we are biased. I'm still in love with the 05 MT I have. And .... there is no angle the 3GTL looks bad from. The ass end is remarkable but so are the sides (as long as no door protector strips) and front

performance go with Accord MT, if you want a nice car to cruise get the TL. Accord MT with right mod can go down to the 13s with a few bolt on. I would find a TL with MT for both enjoyment and performance, an 04 MT model now goes around $5.5k-$7k (decent condition).

I looked at both (in 5AT form) and went with the TL because I liked the exterior styling better. TL wins on the interior as well but a loaded 7G Accord isn't far behind. Unless I found a super pristine 7G accord, I wouldn't pick it over a 3G TL either.

No doubt the Accord is a nice ride, but I like the fact that there is a little more exclusivity in the TL. I'm not talking about being snobbish or being elitist by picking the Acura over a Honda. I've driven Hondas since the 80s so no bias there. I simply like the fact that there isn't seemingly a TL on every corner or in every driveway like you find with an Accord. Maybe an intangible or something else to think about -

I cross shopped 8th gen accords with the 3rd gen tl and I found them to be more similarly equipped even tho I know the 3g is built off the 7th gen. What it came down to for me was that if I went with the accord it was just because of looks, the newer year, and less miles on that year, just slightly more power. But the tl was more comfy, had better tech despite being older and it costed me about $4500 less. Easy choice, tho I still think the 8th gen coupe is a nice looking car.

I could see it being a harder decision if you were looking at a newer 8th gen against the 3G TL. The 7th Gen Accord does nothing for me tho.
