3rd Gen seat covers!

Auto Custom Leathers

I had a very difficult time finding replacement seat covers for my 2008 type s. i used Auto Custom Leathers in Massachusetts. They do any color leather you want and any color stitch. Full set for 800-1000 shipped to MD, which is cheap if you have price the factory originals. They install like the originals. Go to the website and give them a call.

They need to be cleaned and conditioned, but I chose black on black with red stitching. I can't say if they would be able to match the factory stuff, but I think if you buy a new cover from Acura you'll still see a difference with your old faded leather anyway. As stated in the original, they'll do any color leather or stitching.

I have installed factory ones before, and the ones I purchased honestly seemed to fit better. Again, sorry for the dirty car

No, when you order they ask what color and type s or base. They make them custom for each order (I don't believe they stock anything).

Did you install them yourself or have a pro shop do it? Their site shows some really nice work. I just wish they had an online website for pricing and configuration. I've been looking at leatherseats.com for a set and theirs are around the same price. I'll have to give these guys a call.

Installed myself (first set I've ever done), but fairly easy job.

I'd say the same or better. Very supple leather that melts into your skin. I'm very satisfied with the money spent.

When they were new it was ok, but as I'm sure you all know they wear out rather quick. And my employee cost was 850 per seat for factory. I got the whole kit with headrests cover and armrest covers in a color of my choice for that much.

That's my point, cheap materials OEM that wear out too quickly. Not acceptable for a car of this price IMHO.

no. i don't think anyone can make slip on covers that well. you have to cut off the old hog rings and crimp the new ones on. fairly straight forward job though.

OP, please remove the new seat covers.

Then put them back on and take photos of the process, along the way, with details

This could end up in the 3G DIY Garage.

That wasn't an option back when I ordered mine unfortunately. I'm definately curious as to how they will turn out though.

They also appear to slip over, which is easier, but may not be as tight of a fit.

Clazzio's, while nice, cannot compare to these. This is replacement seat covering, not a 'seat cover'. Though I will admit, the Clazzios are the best slip ons I've seen. But for the slight added cost, I'd go this route. Also, the quilted insert of the Clazzio is vinyl, NOT leather.

zbryant1010 - are these covers complete leather, or just the face, or just the perforated insert? I know some other seat covering vendors offer different options as far as what is real leather vs vinyl.

I believe the covers are full leather, however I do know the oem ones use vinyl on the tops of the side bolsters because they are the part that takes the most abuse. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case, but they must have some really nice vinyl. I can't tell a difference between any of the panels.

I only did the seat bottoms and they were a great match.

Is it not unreasonable to think that replacing the front seat only (uppers and bottoms) would be a fairly good match? My passenger and rear seats are in excellent condition, but the driver seat looks like a warzone was conducted on all ends

Those look great zbryant.

I'm considering buying replacement covers for my seats as well. The only issue I have is what to do about the perforated panels. I like the look of them, but I'd rather not get the replacements with perforated panels because they're harder to care for and they aren't as durable IMO. Will I have any issues with the seat heaters if decide to go with solid panels?

I wouldn't think you would have any issues. I have other vehicles with heaters and solid leather. It's ventilated seats that need the perforations.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll go with solid panels then. Gotta' get new tires first!

I ordered a full set for my escalade but haven't received it yet. Hopefully by the end of the week they should be here. I can post pics of them to show the quality.

I know they offer the tl for both front and back, not sure what the op got.
