Question about dealers

Do I have to bring my car to the same dealer where I purchased my car from or can I bring it to any Acura dealers I choose? Thanks!

You can take it to any authorized dealer for warranty work, and you can take it anywhere you want for routine maintenance, or you can do it yourself if you want to.

Recently I called my dealer to make an appointment. They told me I had to wait 5 weeks. Then they asked me if I purchased from them, and when I said yes they gave me an appointment for that week.

They are trying to give their purchase customers the service we all want. We can shop and shop but might want to look a the total experience.

Rallye Acura in Roslyn, NY. I've only had routine maintenance done there, but have no complaints. I had the tires rotated and oil change and it came to about $65. You even get a complimentary car wash (by hand).

JackSprat I don't think it's shady. They probably reserve a couple of time slots for people who bought through them to reward them for their loyalty.

I still think its a bit shady (well maybe its not the right word), but you know that all dealers are supposed to be equally accessible to Acura owners, new or old, native (bought from the dealer) or not (bought from someone else).

Besides, they get paid for the work.

What if I were in the military and just rolled into town? What if I recieved the car as a gift but it was purchased elsewhere? What if I'm a college student away at school? I stick my my original statement, that is shady to hold out on other genuine Acura owners just to throw a reach-around to your own litter.

You know as sad as it sounds, when I was shopping for TL's, the salesman at Baierl Acura told me that they would put me ahead of other people for service if I bought from them and that they did it all the time. I do believe there are some shady dealers. The dealership is only 15 minutes away, but the salesman told me there were ten people behind me who would pay the price he was asking, so I told him to have a nice day and went to another 40 minutes away. Take it where you want, but there are shaky dealers out there. And here I thought we were all family.

I have worked at car dealers, and while most try to be fair and give good service to any owner, it is only human nature to try and take care of your own customers first. If time and personnel are available, then the person who bought their car somewhere else will get good service, but if it is a busy shop and two customers come in, one of which bought their car there, which do you think will get quicker service?

still be careful though. When I went in for my first service I told them not to wash my car, hand washing while better than machine washing can still scratch your paint if the guys aren't careful.

When I went for my first service I told them not to wash my car, but they did anyway. I found a ton of little scratches all over it afterwards.
