Question about buying a TL

Theres a luxary car dealer by me that buys storm damaged vehicles water no more than 2-3 inches below the pedal and completley rebuilds them will replace brakes wireing ect. They have a 07 TL nav for 14900 with 59k miles which is a awsome deal and he said the title doesnt say salvage but W or T. What does that mean? I'm cheap.. I can afford a normal one for 20k but who can pass up one for 5k less.. and it seems better since they replace it with oem parts so part of the car is new. I'm just worried what W or T means on a title and if I should just stick to a acura dealer for 25% more cash.

Any car with water damage I'd stay away from.

But that's my opinion.

If money is a problem there are many Tl's in low low teens with higher miles, do not be scared by miles. These Tl will run like champs till 300k+. I would stay away from any title with any short of damage on it...

The dealer will say ANYTHING to sell a car, especially if it's been previously damaged. Stay away

No deal. There is no way I would buy a water damaged car. Mold, electrical shorts, rust - I don't see much savings there.

It's unanimous, Coheed. Walk from that TL.

a w or a t is just a title letter. It will still come up as salvaged or salvaged-rebuilt. Either way, still salvaged..... why not take a look at the carfax... i would think if they are selling vehicles like that they would definitely give you a carfax... although i still agree with the above and walk away.

if you can afford a normal one for 20k than i would highly suggest that you do!

because if you do buy this 07 for $14.9 and later on in the future you start having problems, you'll start to wonder if it has to do with the previous water damage.

if you buy a clean title for $20k you'll have the piece of mind knowing that the car history is free of problems!

if i could have bought a clean title TL, trust me I would have....

but instead i found a 08 TL w/ nav 30,000 miles for $15 FLAT. yes the title was rebuilt salvage, but the body shop had pictures of the previous damage and after test driving the car everything was A-OK!. I was on a budget and i had to get this TL!

it's been 10 months and about 14,000 miles since purchase and the car has been trouble free! maybe i was just lucky

Although the car has 59k it will have no factory warranty because of the salvage title.

There is no possible way that the repair facility would replace all components that have become wet or waterlogged as it would be cost prohibited. A bargain price can sometimes empty your pockets with the future repairs as the electronics in the these cars don't react well to dampness, let alone the moisture/debris that has been trapped in underlying areas. Also, the resale value will take a hit when you try to do a resale or trade-in.

I'd never buy either, but if I had to make a choice, I'd consider a vehicle that has been totaled in an accident before one that has seen water damage.
