Purchasing TL 6-speed
Hello all,
I am about to join the 3rd gen family when my car gets in at car max...heres the specs
2005 Acura TL 6-speed
Silver with Black interior
23,000 miles
$27,599
So what do you think? Good deal? Also the autocheck that carmax provides shows that this car was aquired from an auction..is this a bad thing? I trust carmax would not put a wrecked car on their lot...but yeah its being transfered as we speak should be here this week or next...

The car was probably acquired from someone who filed for bankruptcy and had his car auctioned off because they could no longer afford the car, nothing to be afraid of, although you could ask to be sure.
Seems like a good deal to me, does it have navi?

That is high! I paid like around $31K before adding some extras! And that was just in November! Oh well, you have it now. You should have done a complete carfax report. I think carmax just does a basic one. Do one now!

MY KBP IS BTR THN URS...
We just bought 05 tl aspec 6speed in march for $29000.00 from carmax
we like it and carmax has stood behind the car 100%
we just took it in for a regular oil change at acura asked them to check it over and one of the things was the brakes sqealing they said we needed new front rotors and pads about 900.00 worth of stuff.
We called carmax and they replaced it all no cost to us. Srevice manager at carmax told us there was no way we should be having to put rotors on it so soon after purchasing it.

check underneath for rust since you expressed a concern that it was from ny. check for the driveline vibration and rattles. check the 3gtl garage and you can find out what the recalls and problem areas are so you know what to look for. good luck.

See if there is any way to have the clutch disc/pressure plate inspected. I and others have had them fail very early. Most have had to pay out of pocket to get it fixed, to the tune of $2k to $3k.
See this thread:

If the clutch feels like it engages low, it would be a cause for concern.
A possiblity is it has/had this problem and was traded in.
Good Luck.

I paid 26,700 for a 2004 NBP 6MT w/Navi in August of last year. If I remember correctly it had 37,000 miles on it when I bought it from Carmax. I had it shipped from Fl...
Hope this gives some perspective...

Not a bad price. I just got my '05 6MT NAVI w/21K from Carmax about 2 months ago and paid $26,000. Don't let people get you down on the price. I had to have mine transferred from VA, as there weren't ANY 6MT NAVI cars around here at all! The local dealers also wanted 29K for a non-navi 6MT, and it had parchment. I wanted black or grey, and I got everything I wanted in the car. I am a negotiator and that's the one thing I HATE about carmax. Their price is FIRM.

Yeah, well I guess it's a tough situation if you're looking for a 6MT. I love driving MT's so I can sympathize. Luckily for me, my old 10-year old Mazda's engine failed on the highway while driving back from a long trip in October '06, so I got a 2006 TL - MT6 before Acura phased out TL - MT6's for '07.

i think the price is too high i just got an 04' NBP A/T with 25,500 miles on it for $21,500 you should be able to find one cheaper and if your buying it from here in new york ask questions about who had the car before especially if its from one of those lots or auctions from the bronx or one of the boroughs.

If you search for the pro-cats thread, there's a dyno graph showing stock to be 228whp.

price is way too high. I paid $28,000 for a brand new 06 TL 5AT no nav in November 06. I was looking at used TLs and they were asking $25-$28 G. I would keep shopping.
