Puddle Light Question....
Puddle Light Question....
So im getting ready to buy some puddle lights and was wondering if anyone wired them to the door coutesy lights instead of the map lights? this way they would only turn on with the doors open and not have to worry about them turning on with the map lights on. I really do not want to worry about the puddle lights turning on when i turn the rear or front map light on, especially when im driving. just want them on/off when the doors open and possibly when i unlock/lock the car with the remote. also, anyone in the NJ area willing to install these for me? thanks
Connecting them to the door courtesy lights will only let them turn on when you open the door. The whole point of puddle lights is to have them on BEFORE you open the door, i.e.: When you unlock them with the remote. In order for them to function like that, they should be hooked up to the map lights.
I looked at them a bit and even picked up an electrical manual to see if there was an easier place to tap the map light circuit, but then got distracted with other things.
OH LOOK! A BUNNY!!!!

Why don't you tap them into the window lock switch?

That's why I tapped my rear domes because my front maplights are turned on more often than my rears.
It is exactly true that the reason you want to tap the domes instead of the doors is so you can have them turn on with the fob. But most of all turn them off with that cool delayed fade.
