Pressure Switches

I see everyone on here saying it is reccomended around 100,000 miles to change the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches. Thats great, but is it also a good thing to change out the 2nd gear as well since your gonna be down there anyway?

Also, I normally get my fluid changes done at Valvoline. (I know, I know) I could do it myself but honestly I don't really have the time/patience to do all that work just to change the oil and fluids. So with that being said, I am getting my tranny fluid changed out with Redline D4. Has anyone ever done the 3x3 change routine there? As I understand it once they drain and fill the trans once, your supposed to drive it a little bit. Come back and do it 2 more times right? Is that something they would do or has anyone ever done this?

There is not a 2nd gear pressure switch IIRC.

You are correct on the method of doing the 3x3. I'm sure they'll do it.. for the right price. Whether they do it "right" or not though..

Is your 07 really at 100k miles?

I recommend replacing them at least every 3yrs, 60,000 miles. They seem to be as time sensitive as mileage sensitive. There are plenty people on here with pretty low miles that still needed to have them replaced.

Redline "racing" would be much better than D4.

You won't have the time/patience to wait for a shop to do it either.

Honestly, it is easier at home if time/patience is all that you lack. Tools/equipment/etc is another thing. I do it over a couple of days if I am busy. You don't even get dirty once you get good at it.

You could have them do it every time that you get your oil changed for the next few times. It will be a 3x3, eventually.

IHC is right, use the racing ATF. :rockstarL

jda makes a valid point.. although if I were to choose that route, I would do 3 drain/refills over a period of 4 oil changes

Actually she's at 98,000 right now. Bought it less than a year ago at 85,000 1 previous owner all highway miles. Lived in Maine, worked in Mass. Well the thing is, the weather is getting cold and I don't have a garage or anything I could do the work in so that's why I'd just rather take it in somewhere. About the 2nd gear pressure switch, I talked to my mechanic about getting those replaced and he's the one that asked me if I wanted the 2nd gear pressure switch replaced too. I hope he wasn't trying to scam me! Anyone know if one exists? And I hate cars, I already bought 9 quarts of the D4 so I don't have a choice. Its still good stuff right? Much better than the Acura ATF I would assume.

D4 is still great stuff, no worries, but if/when you do it again later on, "racing" would produce better results.

I know this isn't a fluid thread so I'll be short. The one thing I like about the racing fluid is it seems to produce just about zero wear on the magnet. Being a good synthetic and with much less wear, you could potentially leave it in for a very long time. I'm currently on my 100,000 mile fill. We'll see how long it lasts.

I don't think that there is a 2nd gear switch either. If he does do it, make him show you where it is and stuff.

Yea i dont think there is one either. But i think on the 07 there are two 3rd gear sensors and one 4th gear sensor. The mechanic could think one of the 3rd gear sensor is for 2nd gear

I had the guy at Goodyear do my switches- it cost $27 to replace them (for both) and I took a copy of the pages from the manual and some pics of the replacement (from the other thread) so they knew exactly what to replace. The car runs great (but it did even before the switch change)
