Thanks.......
The black is actually a "pearl" or metallic paint. In direct sunlight, you can see blue metallic flecks in the black. From a few feet away, however, it is black. A deep, rich black.
The quality? Well, every TL I have seen has "orange peel" on the paint. I suspect that is due to the water-borne paint and the robotic paint systems. Whatever it is, it's the same on BMW's and MBs. I would prefer paint without orange peel, but.....
Obviously, I love Nighthawk Black Pearl because I ordered it. It is amazing when all polished up. Take a look at my pictures by clicking on the link below and you will see what it looks like after a session with TLC and Zaino.

Ahaa!
Nighthawk Black Pearl has leaped ahead of Satin Silver Metallic as the 2nd choice on the color poll!
Yeah team. We're number two! See! One plus one equals two> :thefinger
(It may seem like I'm giving the finger to the SSMs. I am. Nya, nya!)
I ask you: is that anyway for a Goodwill Ambassador to conduct himself?

Because of your excellent taste and discretion in picking BLACK TL, you qualify for membership. Check out the TEAM NIGHTHAWK thread.
I hope you have voted your favorite color in the poll at the beginning of this thread. You can see that we are the 2nd most favorite color TL behind Anthracite.
I hope you enjoy your new TL as much as I am enjoying mine with 300 miles.

When I wrote it, NBP was number three. File it under "poetic license".

I sometimes put another coat of Zaino Z5 on my rims at 2 AM.
I hate to confess this, but I actually took my wheels off so that I could polish the inside of the wheels and wheel wells. I also painted my brake calipers bright metallic gold (they come OEM in pale gold).
I wasn't able to polish the rear wheel wells because they are UPHOLSTERED! OMG!

I just put the deposit down on an full A-Spec, black-on-black, with Navi. Have to wait as long as mid-June to get it. I'm tinting my windows and going 35% fronts and limo tint on the rest.

I think it's a sporty Luxury Car.
Luxury cars don't offer red. Have you ever seen a bright red Rolls, Bentley, MBZ, Cadillac, Lexus, Maxima, Infiniti, or TL that wasn't a repaint? Certain colors seem to be off-limits for cars aimed at the luxury market.
Sports cars, on the other hand, usually sport brighter colors including the international racing colors of their countries of origin: England: green; Italy: red; Germany: silver; US: blue/white; Japan: ???. They also come in bright yellow and fire engine red. No limits.
Re: Jaguar. Yes, indeed. That IS a proper British Racing Green and it is not up for alteration or negotiation. It's tradition.
Black is all colors put together (additive). It makes a statement: quiet grace, luxury, stealth, class, secretive, inscrutable and a little diabolical.
White is the absence of color. It makes a statement of purity, cleanliness, innocence, heavenly, eternal.
Silver is the color of precious metal. Wealth, security, sparkle, bling-bling, showy, ostentatious, pride.
Red is the color of blood. In-your-face, danger, excitement, edgy, give-me-a-ticket, look out!, look at me, and f--k you!
Blue is the color of the ocean and sky. Peaceful, serene, mother-love, comfort, you love me, I love you, gentle.
What does your TL's color say about you? What do you want it to say?

Not that anyone gives a fuck, XP, but you have it backwards - black is the absence of color and white is all colors combined (at least if we're talking about visible light).

But I can assure you (and that's why I said "additive" as opposed to filtered) that if you mix silver, red, blue, green, etc. paint, you will not come up with white paint. It will be black.
But the other way is correct also. That's why I felt it necessary to state the method I was referring to. In one case, we're adding color (paint), but with colored lights, we are filtering out the other colors.
Thanks for correctly pointing out the other way.

Nope, you're still wrong.
If you start mixing a bunch of different paints, you will not get black, you'll get mud. Even if you start with black paint, imagine adding yellow or silver to it. After a while it would no longer be black. If you mix even amounts of each TL color in a pail, the result will not be black.
What remains true is that a pure black paint absorbs all visible light equally and what you see is the absence that remains. White paint reflects the spectrum equally.

Brake Calipers
Did your cars come with black powder coated front brake calipers? The car I purchased had added options from a potential buyer who, in the end, couldn't get financing. I saw a black TL the other day that didn't have black "ACURA" calipers and it made me wonder what options may have been previously installed on my car.

Color Poll
 I have a DGP Auto with 35% tint all the way around. Until this car, I've had 3 Satin Silvers in a row. I don't know about you but I would rather have a "wimpy" green Than a car you see at every stop.

The green is pretty but a bit too dark for me (way southern AZ, within 20 miles of Mexico)..that and I wouldn't get it until Sept as opposed to the 28h of this month for the white.
