Angry Please help...I am pissed...

I've just got my TL tinted and got an alarm yesterday. I didn't notice it till tonite but since then I lost my background light for my audio system and the blue map-light is not on. Can someone guide me what I should do? If not I have to wait till Monday to take it in to them. Please help me out...it's really bothering me...

By audio system I assume you mean stock, and I assume that means you dont have navi. Check the fuse box, thats the best advice I can give.

I didn't check the fuse yet but I do have navi. When I said audio system...I meant the controls that are under navi...I have no light on the controls even when the headlights are on. Anyways, I'll check it out. Thanks.

I'm assuming your TL is third gen. My question is why did you put an alarm in? The TL's already come with one.

Yah, doesnt even have a shock sensor. So as long as your door isnt opened they can get in and out without causing a problem. Does anyone know if the alarm is integrated into the hoods so they cant break the window and open up the hood without setting it off?

What needs to be done to disable the stock alarm. They cant brake the window and then hit unlock, can they?

No. If you do that the alarm would go off.

Seriously folks.... No alarm is fool proof. If you know the alarm and it's specific schematic their isn't much that will stop the "decent" theif...

Many times given the "aftermarket install process of an alarm, they are easier to bypass than the factory. When it comes down to it, once a thief is in and disables the "noise maker" all bets are off.

The factory alarm isn't perfect at letting you know when someone is breaking in, but it does a fine job with killing the fuel/electrical system so the car can't be easily driven off....

Most folks wouldn't want a motion/glass/vibration sensor due to the amount of false alarms. Thats why the manufacturers do not use them. They are annoying and actually have resulted in the "cry wolf" syndrome for auto alarms. You get so many going off now days people don't even turn their head to see whats up..

To hell with alarms. That's just to keep the weenies out. Even if it does sound, the thieves don't really care simply because the public no longer cares (too many false alarms).

Get a boomerang, that's the safest bet if the whole thing is stolen.

I looked at Boomerang and it looks good. A friend has one and he complains about the monthly $20+ charge forever and I think $250 if they ever actually have to look for your car.

I settled on a $20 insurance premium that covers full car and contents replacement at current cost. I couldn't care less if anyone takes mine, I'll just get a new one.

I took at look at the service manual, and it seems like it's not the fuse... the same fuse that's related to the audio controls & blue lights are also related to a whole bunch of other things. Someone must've forgotten to reconnect the wires after the installation.

Does anyone know if there is a way you can make the keyfob vibrate or ring when the car alarm goes off? An idea I've been thinking about for a while.

On this keyfob you could probably rewire and reprogram the entire thing and add a beeper. It would however be easier to just buy a really nice alarm.

Save the $$ on your new alarm and just make sure your insurance is paid up.

Off Topic: The alarm is worthless, 1.) it wont prevent shit if they want it, 2.) You wont get out there in time to do shit and frankly 99% of the world wouldnt do shit even if they did, 3.) It's loud and obnoxious when you should just go to your insurance!

It would be nice to have an alarm so loud people would call the cops from sound polution. Yah, its annoying, but it would be an actual DETTERENT(sp?) not just a beeping solved by closeing your windows.

80% of your problems will be stopped by a combination of the "electronic key" and the little blinking red light on the drivers door -- whether or not it is actually hooked up to any kind of actual alarm. You can't do anything about the other 20% at all.

Which fuse is it? I think it's the fuse because my back light is not working when my headlight is on. My breaking light works. Please let me know. Thanks.

And who suggested the blown fuse? Your welcome.(not attempting to be rude, but I can't help my arrogance). Get those glow fuses, that glow for 12 hours when they go out. Cars should use by mattalic breakers in place of fuses, and then have a switch to turn it off, since they cant be removed, for servicing electronics.

Yup, I got it figured out. JK, well sorta. It would be nice if the mid would tell you which fuse was blown. IE b-2. Works great unless its the mid fuse.
