The Parking thread

Out of curiosity are you guys as anal as I am about door dings? I had roughly $550 in door dings on my last car which accumulated over 4 years. Nothing major but expensive to pull out. So I'm curious if I'm the only one really anal here

Indeed I am. Here's what bugs me..

- At work, there is one spot that is next to a support column, this allows you to back into a big open space about 3 feet from the nearest car on the driver side, the right side is 100% guaranteed no damage because there isn't another spot next to it. What pisses me off is the shittiest f*king 7 year old RAV4 parks there. GIVE ME A FRICKIN BREAK. I think the person does it just to piss me off when he/she beats me there in the morning.

- When coupes park extra close to your car to ensure their 40 f**king foot door hits your vehicle multiple times whilst they woddle their ass out

- When BIG (no offensive) people park next to your car and rub their ass and jeans across every inch of your vehicle while walking by

- When the absolute crappiest car parks next to yours and it has roughly $5k of body work waiting to be done; usually the drivers of these cars have the "it still runs" attitude and could give a shit less if your car is nicer, they'll still hit it just the same.

I think that's all for now...

yea, at this point, if it's not a major scratch i'm probably just gonna wait each year and have it patched up....Timmah!'s post about sums it up

the only one he missed is are the crabby handicapped ppl who don't park in a handicap spot and insist on parking next to my TL and find it alright to hit my ride...

ironically Timmah's avatar really sums that one up pretty well

While I don't park an abnormal distance from where I am going, I do:

- Look for spots where there is not a parking space on one side (like Timmah's column) and get as far from the other space as possible;

- Try to park between two really nice cars (say a Lexus and another Acura) in the hopes that they don't want their doors dinged anymore than I do;

- Try to avoid parking next to coupes (unless they are upscale and clean).

I WILL NOT park next to somebody's beater.

What I don't like are people who use two (or more) spaces to avoid getting dinged. If you're going to be an ass about it, leave it in the garage.
