Motorcraft 5W20 ($12.50), and purolator pure one filter ($5- 6).
I change oil according to MID, sometimes 0% sometimes 10- 15%
Less than $20 for an oil change, can't be happier than that.

+1.

I always get 5 quarts of oil + filter for $13.99-$15.99 at the auto parts store, when they run specials...which is like, ALWAYS.

I went to walmart after my friend suggested and got a 5 gallon jug of mobile sythetic for $25 bucks plus filter so it ended up being $30.

I currently have BMW 5W30 fully synthetic in my car as I had extra left over from when I worked at BMW. I am using a WIX filter...

I'm assuming you meant 5 quart jug as a 5 gallon one for $25 would be AMAZING!

I heard that those synthetics from BMW and Mercedes are some high quality stuff, definitely better than the mobil 1 everyone can buy from walmart. lots of additives and anti-wear. No wonder my friend's 325i had an oil change in about 11k miles.

Yes, the MID in most BMW's don't call for an oil change for 15K - 20K miles

Most of it is Castrol Edge except for the thicker oils they offer.

That is because they hold 2-3 times more oil than the TL.

Mercedes and Porsche were also doing extremely long intervals but they cut them back a lot this year.

I run Amsoil straight 30wt, a TRUE full synthetic unlike others that claim to be. It flows like a 10w-30 but no VIIs so it won't shear down like the others. Perfect for my climate. And of course Amsoil EAO 20 filter though I hear the new RP filters are just as good and available locally.

Just an FYI, Amsoil's 0w-20 is on the thick side of a 20w and their 0w-30 "SSO" is on the thin 30wt side. Not a lot of difference in hot viscosity. The 0w-20 will flow better in cold temps.

I just use the whatever brand of 5W-20 synthetic has the best price at the time. Most often, that's been Penzoil Platinum from Walmart. Back in February, NAPA stores had their own brand of synthetic on sale for $3.29 a quart. The store manager said it's really Valvoline SynPower with NAPA's name on it, so I bought a case. So far, so good.

As for Mobil1, I'm sure it's good oil. But considering ExxonMobil cleared $45 BILLION in profits last year while gouging us for $4+ a gallon at the pump, I really don't think they need any of MY money.
