Question Oil Undercoating

Hi Everyone,

I have an '04 SSM 6MT TL up here in Massachusetts.
I'm considering oil undercoating it. Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't?

Thanks,
TL-Rocket

How about weight? If not done right it can trap water and CAUSE rust. Don't need it. It comes with rust proofing........

Also I see you have an 04. Most rust proof places won't even guarantee it. Unless you have a new car.

Undercoating is not an issue in Florida. But, I think that our cars are pretty well rust proofed at the factory through the use of aluminum and galvanized body panels. When I get under my car to wax the suspension components, the only rust I see is on a few steel washers holding bushings in place. I'm not going to worry about washers.

The down side of undercoating is that it may trap dirt and moisture, the smell, and the weight.

But, mostly, I just don't think it's needed. You might check www.acura.com to see what the factory does for peace of mind. I think we have an extensive rust-through warranty.

^On top of what they said, it will void Acura's warranty against rusting.
